Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

After the latest "small" announcement by @Jason Stoddard he now has a choice of 4 for his next announcement.
1. A large and heavy announcement
2. A plenty warm announcement
3. A rotating announcement
4. A shifting announcement
You fill in the products.
Based on Jason's earlier advice, I am expecting .... the unexpected.

Ninja-like, I sit here in a balanced pose of watchful energy, ready at a moment's notice to do ... nothing at all .... or .... to punch in an order and my credit card number faster than the speed of sound.

next-gen product introduction is almost a certainty if you are able to snag a rarely offered (non-returnable, non-exchangeable) b-stock unit in the color and configuration of your choice
True... but in this case not likely

Something I just finished up for @Pondoro. I need to label everything and level the meters and secure them but otherwise it is complete. Right now I am running the red box's output into the meter box below, I do not like to lose line outs, thus it has an input and an output. This will most likely be the last one I build for a while, my project list is getting longer and longer with little end in sight.

Power switch always goes on the back right?
awesome!

I got my Freya+ that way, and didn't suffer a price increase for the product, and the tubes, and now silver! It works both ways. I am just concerned because with all the talk about a Mimbious or Mimby 2 it seems like people are considering it as 'in the queue' subject only to the vagaries of our tariff battered, covid hobbled economy. I too think a mimby TI would be great.

Or, how about a FullaBits as in MB Fulla?

Oof, stay away for two weeks and there's 30+ pages of reading. All caught up now, though.
Two more weeks without Elma and Schiit to go in Sweden.

Regarding vinyl, the upcoming Fear Inoculum LP set is making me want to dip my toes into the world of vinyl. I'm sure I can resist the temptation, but in case I can't, Mani 2 launched at perfect time.

Also, there might be a true classic (Ragnarok 1) waiting for me when I get back.

I know, it's been a rather slow two weeks… ;p

Dont sleep on a Bifrost 2. It will blend soooo harmoniously with your VU metered tube amp.
Let alone that doing so would be seriously uncomfortable, sharp edges and all…

One does what one can. I need to start creating space in my shop so this build allowed me to use up some excess parts. I am hoping my wife gets tired of doing pottery so I can take over the shed I gave her.

That is a very effective way to get rid off noise :)

Finnegan and I made a small sound system and work table. All wood is tiger maple or hard maple since @bcowen says it sounds best.

Ok, now that we're talking vinyl, I recently had the opportunity to consolidate my extended family's LP collection (most were heading to Goodwill!) and am jonesing to listen to them - as well as my own collection from my youth.

Two questions:

(1) Any opinions on the Dual CS 518 as a "starter" turntable. Not as an endgame acquisition but something decent. Growing up, we had a Dual turntable. Nostalgia has to count for something.

(2) What are the well-regarded online sources to purchase new/used LPs? I haven't purchased any vinyl since the early '80s. It seems that things have changed!

Thanks!

I'm confused... I thought bcowen says double walled cardboard is best?

My well heeled friends seem to like Discogs & Ebay(still).

You need to be very wary of online descriptions of condition. VG (very good) tends to mean "almost playable" in my experience, and I'm not even very picky!

I prefer thumbing through bins of used LP's in person. If you live in PDX, you have many great shops to choose from.
