Hugo M Scaler by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread
The automatic input selection is bad, but the mscalar works great if you just manually select the input. The pop etc when selecting new sampling rate I am pretty sure related to that the ”tail” of the old music will be played at the new sampling rate so if you just pause/stop the old music...- hmartin

CHORD ELECTRONICS DAVE
I think we should be careful what is a bad dealer, bad distributer and what is Chords fault. I had the bad IR window in msc. After more than 1 year I had not gotten help, dealer was blaming distributer who was blaming Chord. I asked John Franks about the delay situation a few day later a new IR...- hmartin

CHORD ELECTRONICS DAVE
Thanks, but actually they seem even harder to find, I only find them in UK with the UK connectors. In UK futureshop has Plixir but only with UK power connectors. Found some german shop with Plixir listed but the shop had very bad reviews on trustpilot…. But Airlink is a name that makes it...- hmartin

CHORD ELECTRONICS DAVE
I was aslo intrigued by Triode Users recommending Airlink / Plixir. So I wanted to get a Plixir Elite BAC to try, sadly the Swedish importer only carry the BDC products and ordering from Plixir is 220 in postage. Can anyone recommend a online dealer in EU that carry Plixir Elite BAC?- hmartin

Watts Up...?
Oh dear you are wrong, a anti-alaising filter does not only need to remove high frequences. It needs to low-pass filter without introducing errors in the low-pass signal. Yes decimation of a oversampled bandwidth limited signal will keep the signal, but that signal is not the original signal if... -
Watts Up...?
Sorry Rob, but these two statements cannot both be true. If we claim that errors caused by e.g. IIR filters are OK, then it does not matter if we add them in reconstruction or when we bandwidth limit the signal. Hence the claim that IIR is ok for bandwidth limiting implies that SINC is not the... -

Wouldn’t the natural solution be to have one unit that can be programed either by a crossover design for e.g. Atc scm50 supplied as package or the same unit that also can be sold separatly and let the user make the crossover? -
Watts Up...?
Big fan of Atc speakers, the newer models with Atc tweeters are fantastic. Problem is switching to active speakers when already invested in amps etc. But starting fresh active Atcs is perhaps best value today imho. -
Watts Up...?
After using the Mojo 2 for some time I must say that it is amazing to be able to bring such high performance in such a small size. Love addition of crossfeed and the extended volumerange. Now to a question, getting rid of the passive crossover in speakers must be one of the biggest improvements... -

Having a configurable max volume setting should be in all DACs. I have not had the volume problem in Chord DACs but where I lived before my Oppo would regularly raise the volume to max. This has never happened after moving so I think it was due to ”interference” from some external source. Please...- hmartin

Watts Up...?
Sorry, but this is not my experience. I did listening test between one generic usb and three audiophile cables. One low cost (supra), one midprice brand A and one high price brand B. Brand A and generic sounded clearly worse. Supra and brand b was very close, supra sounding a little darker and... -

Mojo 2 with fixed thermals and desktop mode would be very nice. Hopefully with a zero delay minimum phase filter option for gaming and live music …. -

I wonder this also, John Franks indicated that they would release a number of products in the first half of this year, but chord have also said they have problems getting components (fpga:s ?). -
Watts Up...?
I think surround sound would greatly improve if wta/pulse-array DACs was used. In stereo everything is much better in focus. Probably because of the much less time dependent reconstruction errors thus probably making placement in 3d surround space much better. -
Watts Up...?
You should use DoP with the mscaler. Did some tests comparing Roon coverting to PCM, not even close. Robs method sounds much better. But you can just try it and see what you think. -

Yes, I could not detect any difference in sound quality. Using optical now as that atleast avoids galvanic connection. I first had it on the bottom shelf (it was free) and later moved it to the suspended top shelf and that made a clear difference to the better. I use Solid tech radius with the...- hmartin

Thanks for the reply! Is in the market for a small amp but have some bad experience with fans in another amp, it was quite low in level but had very irritating high pitch tone. Typically it was off but turned on and off depending on temp.- hmartin

Thanks for the update Rob, very much looking forward to the DX amps. :) My wife is also looking forward to me to get rid of my class A amps / ”room-heaters”. But please design them with regular passive cooling and no fans. If you like listening at low levels, fans can be a big problem. -

I wonder how Chord will release the new products that John Franks talked about when all hifi-shows are cancelled. Or is there any show that is planed to still run? -
Watts Up...?
I guess the memory need depend on how the processing power is spent. For example, going to a 32x FIR msc i.e.1536 kHz instead of 768 kHz upsampling would be an option. But this would imply an new interface e.g. Optical or integrating the 32x msc in the same box as the DAC? -

If you want bit-perfect you need to avoid windows mixer which those settings are about. Use exclusive mode eg asio or wasapi and a player that support it
