Dear Headfi, I bought NHT Sb-1's a while back and have them paired with a cheapy Technics receiver and M&K sub. It sounds terrible. Quite frankly, I'm at a loss because the Sb-1s got pretty great reviews back in its day and unless speaker sounds deteriorate over time, I have no idea why...

Hey all... My wallet took a recent hit as I bought HD600s and Headroom Micro Amp (both coming in the mail). When I bought this set-up, I was remembering how awesome HD600s sounded (I preferred it over the HD650s and even the HE60s O.o) when I heard them at a Head-fi meet. But it didn't occur...

a note on those bose iems... one of my friends really likes them (O.o) but apparently it's really popular among the "i'm just out of college and i got an i-banking job" sorts..., which my friend is... i told him that he should look around on head-fi before he buys what he sees everyone...

Don't toss out IEMs! I was the same situation... poor student in the city. My solution was... iems (etymotic er6is) for the library and open (grado sr-80s) at home. I've had the opportunity over the years to upgrade but I was very happy with my choices. Also, buy used at the FS forums!

I have two... a medium size one and a small one... I'm not particularly enamored with the paper, but It is nice to have a moleskin if you are writing down things that you know is worthwhile (for me, it's sermon notes). Anyhow, it doesn't look out of place when you put in on a bookshelf next...

welcome to headfi! while 100 isn't much insofar as headphones go (in this new world you are delving into...), you can get some decent stuff... i would suggest open if you could because i think the cost-benefit ratio at sub-100 is better for open cans...(i personally suggest grado sr-80s...

Context is everything. Would I wear full-size headphones in Colorado (shout out to Luminette!)? No... because I'm either driving (unsafe) or fishing (also unsafe - but only for the headphones lest I fall in...). Would I wear full-size headphones in New York? Yes and gladly. This damn city...

update: seems like a lineout adapter came out in japan... WM-PORT‘ΉžƒEƒH[ƒNƒ}ƒ“ê—pLINEOUTo—Í’[Žq•t[“d—pƒP[ƒuƒ‹ but i don't want to buy more stuff... how can i hack this headphone into line-out...? <-- desperately wanting to hear the awesome DAC within this sleeping beast.

Could someone please clarify this to me? I've been playing around with my nwz and got it into test mode... but i can't make it stay in line-out mode. is it possible to make it stay in line-out mode or do you have to buy the line-out proprietary dock that is elusive anywhere outside of...

oh... and another thought was to split a cable - then convert one to rca for the subwoofer and to feed the a2s through the other... pretty crappy.. but it might work.

I was agonizing about this as well... if you check out the website, the manual states that you can feed the signal from the subwoofer to the a2s... of course, that all depends on the subwoofer you have, and whether you have the right outputs on it.

If you want good sound... you probably shouldn't go for a surround system at that budget. there are some very sweet 2.1s at that price point. i've listened to the blueskys and they are impeccable... another option (which is popular but I haven't heard myself) is the audioengine a5s with a...

I put Shure olives on the denon 551k. I had to mod them by using a (hot) needle to take out the plastic tubing in the olives. It does change the sound however. Let me know if you are interested in that "mod."
