SE846 owner - wondering what my options are

hi - i've had my Shure SE846 for about three years, and while i still enjoy them, i can't help but wonder if there's something else out there that's better, at a fraction of what i paid. if there are better options around $200-300, would it be possible to sell the 846 for $500 or $600, pocket...

After several years of the Audio Technica ATH-AD700, I snagged the HD600 today.

as a little background, i have decently musically trained ears, and as someone who is constantly commuting, i have come up the Shure earphone line (e2c > e3c> e4 > e500 > se530 > se846). the ATs were my first and only open-aire phones; i previously owned some HD280s and M50x, but sold them off...

closed, full size equivalent to the Shure SE846 for less than $200?

i'm consolidating my gear and i was wondering if you kind folks have any suggestions on a sub-$200, full sized, closed headphone that has a similar sound signature to the Shure SE846. the reason i'm asking is because i listen to my Audio Technica ATH-AD700 for much of the day during the week...

    my Shure e500 return

they've been sitting at Shure's service department for like 2 weeks now and I haven't received my replacements (9 months in, cable split like everyone else's has or will)..... i HATE being without them. i'm thinking of buying some e2's to use specifically when the new e500s/se530s break again...

    Shure build quality

It seems like anywhere from 50% to up to 75% of people who have purchased Shure earphones have had to return them at some point within the warranty period. I applaud their customer service, as I have returned e2 and e3 earphones in the past, but don't you think they'd be better off actually...

do you pair your shure e500/se530 with an amp?

if so, which do you recommend? i'm considering buying a portable amp for mine, but some people say the difference is negligible anyway, so is it even worth it? thanks.

Why doesn't Etymotic "fix" the ER-4?

From the sound of it, most ER-4p/s owners generally love their IEMs and pretty much crap on any other ones , but in all seriousness, I'm curious as to why Etymotic hasn't changed the design of it at all. It's a ~15 year old design, and while the ER4 lovers out there will gush endlessly about the...

    Ety ---> Shure....isn't it funny....

that everyone coming from Ety er4's will audition UEs, Shures, Westones, etc, and immediately say "they're just not as detailed," or "they lack that sparkle that my beloved Etys have," etc? And that the sound signature of the non-Ety phones is inferior because of that? I only ask because I...

e500 phased out to SE530....leakage problem solved? Sugarfried???

anyone know if the redesigned SE530 is going to have less sound leakage than the outgoing e500? i only ask because i was listening to music in the same room as some people who were watching a movie, and they asked me to leave because they could hear what i was hearing. i honestly never paid...

Comply tips are not better than Shure, in terms of sound quality.

that's my opinion. i've given the short complys a week now, and i've noticed two things: they've already begun to lose their expandability, and they really don't form a better seal than the shure foamies. i think part of it is that they're smaller and when they start losing their ability to...

Calling all e500 users who have switched to Westone foam inserts!

Has anyone gotten one completely on the stem? i can't get the insert past the little "barb" for the life of me. i don't want to use too much force and end up breaking the earphone, but these Westone foamies have this really tough inner core, unlike the more flexible ones in the Shure foamies...

Going to buy Comply tips, but which size?

From the looks of it, the shorter ones are about the same size as those that come from Shure....is there any advantage to the longer ones? Will my e500 still sit in my ear properly with long Comply foamies? Sorry, I tried to do a search but couldn't find any conclusive thread.
