Out of all the IEMs I have tried, I found Nobel TUX5 is somewhat similar to Solaris. I think it is the forwarded lower mids and a huge vertical sound stage makes Solaris special(The 3D or live sound). It is rare to found an IEM which has those two factors at the same time on the market right now.

I have tried various of tips. Surprisingly, the Medium Marshmallow tips comes with the Solaris is the best. I noticed there is some special coating on this marshmallow tips which might be the reason why this foam tip does not roll off treble and does bring mids forward.

If MBP is your main source, I highly highly recommend you get a dongle called Nextdrive SpectraX. With this setup, you will realize how DAPs are way overpriced nowadays.

Do you mean to use SpectraX as the external DAC? Well it is a little bit strange to me to use the dongle as the DAC but that will work if he uses the dongle to output the full volume then purchase a good 3.5mm to 2 RCA cable. However, the heat issue might be a concern if using this way.

The thing is that dongle already sounds better than V30 when paring with V30. While paring with laptop or desktop the sound quality is just not the same level compared to V30 since the output power increased because of the higher output current from the USB port.
