Sure, but I meant the comparison the opposite way. Whether DD can replace and improve BA tuning of ER4XR... ER4XR/SR are very detailed on their own and single DD are not exactly known for it as they tend to be more natural sounding.Dynamic punch cannot be replicated by a BA driver . A8k is much more detailed and open versus er4xr and sr

Definitely a huge upgrade to the etymoticSure, but I meant the comparison the opposite way. Whether DD can replace and improve BA tuning of ER4XR... ER4XR/SR are very detailed on their own and single DD are not exactly known for it as they tend to be more natural sounding.

The i99 does look pretty, but it has a fairly pronounced mid-bass. I'm not 100% sure whether it's true that the majority of people really do prefer a Harman-target type of bass profile, but I strongly suspect that's the case. I know I do.BGGAR has just received a new set, 7HZ i99, that he claims to sound even better than the A8000 and costs less than $500.

Is there a frequency graph available which reveals the mid-bass emphasis, or did you listen to it?

I think BGGAR had it graphed vs. LX approx 2 weeks ago. Check his YT channel. Is there a frequency graph available which reveals the mid-bass emphasis, or did you listen to it?

Thank you, I forgot he did that. Interesting design.

New article from Sean Olive explaining the origins of the Harman target. Interesting to see how our preferences for the low end of the spectrum have changed (or been newly discovered?) over just the last few years

I’ve noticed some less than stellar remarks regarding the trebles on the A8000, and I can’t help wondering if these owners burned their’s in. 200 hours worked well for me.

Am not there yet, but I find the treble issue a. source dependent, and b. position dependent of the IEM in the ear - better fit equals better bass and treble response. I have the suspicion that a majority of users disliking them listened at shows (bad fit), or as owners really had sources and musical genres not fitting the signature. There is very little not to like about the a8000.
