Using the PlexWriter 48/24/48A CD-RW with Firewire and a Mac G4
scrypt-- Thanks for the useful and informative review of the Plextor drive. I've been planning on getting one (I, too, use an older Yamaha SCSI), and would like to upgrade to a faster drive. I had read that the Plextor drives will copy copy-protected disks because of Plextor's...- balcar

Are You Even A Little Country?

emi and bmg are joining the dark side
If the record companies put the money they spend trying to develop copy protection schemes toward their bottom line, maybe the could reduce the cost of CD's to what they should be. A decent price would do more than anything else to thwart what they refer to "stealing" music.- balcar

someone know Aiwa HP-vx100, it's pretty like sony EX-70
mtillman writes: Quote: I'm a pro sound mixer, Do you use the same phones for mixing as you do for listening for pleasure or enjoyment? If no, what do you use for mixing, if you use headphones at all? I agree on the Senn MX500--they are indeed very good.- balcar

someone know Aiwa HP-vx100, it's pretty like sony EX-70
I have both the EX-70's and the HP-vx100's. Speaking about sound quality, the 70's have way too much bass emphasis, and are lacking in the highs. They almost sound muffled. This is without the mods that are described in detail here on Head-Fi and evidently result in a better overall sound...- balcar

Musician's Earplugs
SlicSound is selling an earplug that looks very much like the Ety ER20 musician's earplug. They call it the SlicPlug. The exploded view looks exactly like the Etymotic plug. Priced at $11.95, that's a good price. Comes with carrying case and behind-the-neck cord.- balcar

What would Be a good PCDP with MP3 Support?
You can find a Sony D-CJ01 for about $130, which is a bit over your budgeted amount, but well worth it. It has excellent line out for an amp. Sony also makes a less expensive CD/MP3 portable, around $99. I think the model number is ??-500. You can find others for less, but they don't...- balcar

Radio Shack foldable headphones
I picked up a pair of Radio Shack foldable headphones, 33-1173. They look a bit like the eggos, and phones made by Panasonic, as well (sort of like the RP-HT850). They have a single-sided retractable cord. First listen was not impressive. Grainy highs, generally unremarkable. I compared...- balcar
