Grado HP1000 "The legendary Grado"
Hi All HP1000 lovers, What ear pads do you use with HP1000? My HP1 sounded best with "Flat" pads and that's only pad lead the true Grado sound from it, I believed. Some years ago, I found my last flat pads were turning into black greasy powder on HP1000. I removed them immediately before...- akira

Topping DX7 - DAC and balanced headphone amplifier
Thank you for the explanation. That could be one good feature to protect the speaker system, by fading the volume after switching the outputs. I may have chance to shut down or switch back, even when I made mistake. This can't be achieved by simple direct switches or expensive remote relay...- akira

Topping DX7 - DAC and balanced headphone amplifier
Hello, I can't decide which amp to go, between Audio-GD NFB 11 and Topping DX7. One thing I prefer NFB11 is, it has an output select switch on the front, to switch headphone amplifier and pre-out. It's a bit dangerous that one click over could make the pre-out as fixed level out, which may...- akira

what is the difference between stax omega 1 and stax omega2
OK, forget my jokes. You are serious. my personal view for SQ of SR-Omega compared with SR-007. There must be a lot more discussion in this forum. - Less bass level, but it's tight. I think Omega has correct level and SR-007 is a bit boomy. - shiny treble - more analytic. It can sing...- akira

Is pre-out identical to headphone out?
Recently there are some top class preamplifiers which is equipped with good headphone out, or I can say wonderful headphone amplifiers which has pre-out also. I mean GS-1, GS-X, Apache, B52, etc. I wonder if headphone-out and pre-out are parallel in these amps or not. It was often said that good...- akira

Anybody tried to plug a 100V amp into 120V outlet?
Yes, none of stax amp are sold as "global model", but they have identical transformer actually. Mine was "Japanese version", but I changed pin position to 120V and sold it to a US Head-Fier. Changing jumper pin is not allowed for customer normally and to be done in their factory. However it's...- akira

Anybody tried to plug a 100V amp into 120V outlet?
I confirmed that some stax amplifier models have jumper pin system in it and are enabled to switch for any voltage (100, 120, 220, 240). It's not difficult when you can open housing. I estimate the most of their model are internally switchable since stax sell them worldwide.- akira

I need a Cable for Sennheiser HD414 headphones
The cable on ebay works for your HD414. You can through the gray cable away and put the new cable. Or, you can buy an adapter from 5pin to 1/4inch phone plug. 5pin termination of HD414 was popular and adapters are available in Germany. When you remove the short Y-shape cable, there should... -

Whats the cheapest Omega II system I can build?
If you already have an amplifier for speakers, SRD-7 Pro or mk2 could be used with very low budget. If you have no amp, T-Amp could be a complomise. You can save money for the time being, targetting KGSS, 007t or 717 or anything.- akira

OK now, who won the HD580Jub....
Once I had owned 2 HD580 Jubilees and 2 HD600s at the same time. All had stock cable. I compared them and the result was clear. There was very slight but noticeable difference of sound between HD580J and HD600. It could be difference between old version HD600s and new version HD600s though...- akira

Headphone stand on sell @ eBay
Why don't you ask seller shipping to US? I never hesitated to ask them to ship to Japan. Most of seller who limits "with in EU" or "Deutchland" accept international bidders from my experience. Try! Of course the shipping could cost maybe app. $50, though. I think now ebay.de is the only place... -
