Recently there are some top class preamplifiers which is equipped with good headphone out, or I can say wonderful headphone amplifiers which has pre-out also. I mean GS-1, GS-X, Apache, B52, etc. I wonder if headphone-out and pre-out are parallel in these amps or not. It was often said that good headphone out can work as good pre-amp. However some pre-amplifiers which I owned had different circuit for preout and headphone out (e.g. Melos, Cary). I would like to know conclusion of designer of those amplifiers.
