Recommendation for a beginner
I think the Sansa clip+ has excellent SQ for it's base price. it's a highly portable player which has an external microSD slot and the same audio card as the Fuze. However, having recently purchased a Touch 3g, I can't say it has better sound quality than the iPod. If you want something with...- stratobeats

Ipod users vs non-ipod users: How many people do you see everyday with ipods?
Same here in Montreal, the majority have either an iPod or iPhone and use ibuds. Can't blame them though. There's such a lack of selection sold in retail and the only advertising I can recall is from Apple. I have yet to see an ad promoting a DAP other than the iPod.- stratobeats

Should I exchange my Walkman for an iPod Nano 5G?
Actually, after listening to the iPod for a while now, it sounds a lot better to my ears compared to my initial experience. In comparison to my Walkman, it produces a more natural, straightforward sound, whereas the Sony sounds a bit colored imo (don't get me wrong, I still really like the...- stratobeats

Should I exchange my Walkman for an iPod Nano 5G?
Just came back from Bestbuy with the Nano. I'm very impressed with the overall feel and look of the nano 5g. Originally, I didn't want to base my choice on appearance or any other features besides music quality but it's just impossible to ignore the iPod's appeal. After using it a couple of...- stratobeats

Should I exchange my Walkman for an iPod Nano 5G?
serious about no custom EQ settings? That makes me laugh considering it's got a video camera and a whole array of non-audio related features. You mean to say that there's nothing to "boost" my music? (on my walkman, I'm only satisfied with having clear stereo, Dynamic Normalizer on, plus a V...- stratobeats

Should I exchange my Walkman for an iPod Nano 5G?
Thanks everyone. I'll take your tip Ojsinnerz and try them both out. Oh, and I didn't really mean the fashion thing in any way important. I'm just used to people (and specific websites) devaluing the iPod as just a fashion statement. Anyway, in terms of EQ, is there anything problematic about...- stratobeats

Should I exchange my Walkman for an iPod Nano 5G?
I'm really in a stuck situation here. I've been debating whether to get an S4 for some time now and, surprisingly, my gf must have thought I really wanted one - she got me a pair for my birthday today . Now, I appreciate her gift a lot and I'm truly happy, but she presented me with a set of...- stratobeats

Upgrade from Clip for a better EQ
If you're concerned about money, I'd recommend the current e series walkman (e340). From what I understand, it shares the same EQ/SQ as the S540 (not sure about the s740).- stratobeats

Is the S4 much better than the se115?
Some reviews rave about how the S4s have sound quality equal to IEMs three times it's price while the se115 is not even worth it's price. Based on that alone, I would think the S4 offered a big jump in quality from the Shures. However, I actually own the se115 and I've heard the S4 from a...- stratobeats

S740 and E345 - Why the big price gap?
Other than the design and noise cancelling (which only works with the junk earphones), I really don't understand why the s740 costs double the e345. It has the same Sound card, nearly identical features, and same 2.0 screen size. Anyone care to justify why I (or anyone) should purchase it over...- stratobeats

Why don't luxury brands like Bose/Shure make portable mp3 players?
I guess you're right sebhuber. what a foolish question Quote: No company wants to be seen as a 'jack of all trades'. I was thinking of Sony as both a source and headphone brand, but I see your point. Specializing would be more marketable. Quote: Originally Posted by...- stratobeats

Can I still get A series at Sony Store?
Just came back from the Sony store. After drooling over the S740 and X series for several minutes, I came to my senses after seeing the HIGH price tag. I decided on settling for the cheapest one, the e series walkman which was on sale for $79. After testing it out, I don't know why I even...- stratobeats

Is Reading from an External MicroSD Battery Consuming?
If I get an external SD card (in my case, for the Sansa Clip+), will reading from the card shorten the battery life? If it does, how significant is it? *on the side, any advantages of getting a Sandisk SD, or does the brand not matter?- stratobeats

Does Sansa Clip compare to Walkman in SQ?
Thanks for the replies everyone, I bought the blue 4gb Clip+ today. My impressions so far - it's lightweight/convenient to carry and SQ is not bad at all, just different. Compared to the Walkman though, I'm not really "feeling" my music (don't know what it is though....). One thing I don't like...- stratobeats

Does Sansa Clip compare to Walkman in SQ?
Right now I am utterly pissed at Sony and their Sony"care". Definitive - Best Bass IEM's between £65 - £85
"Shure SE115 are now also on the list, thanks 7swell. That said, are you 100% sure they have bass? Shure's aren't renowned for this." The se115's use a dynamic driver instead of balanced armature, that's why they have more bass. From my understanding, they are the only dynamic IEMs from Shure.- stratobeats
