I actually sold my UM2s and went to the UM1s because I couldn't tolerate the background hiss all the time. I had to use an attenuator which made the setup a little too bulky for me to want to deal with. I'd love an IEM with the sound quality of the UM2 but without the hiss

Just got an email back from Larry. Right now sitting on roughly a 10 week wait if I order up the woody mods. Once the 650s get here I'll have to decide whether or not to make that plunge.

Hrm.. new HD650 + $150 for woodies $500 - whatever I can sell the Denons for Tempting.. so tempting (my poor wallet)

I do wonder if part of the issue is that my m^3 was built with the hd650s in mind and the denons are a whole different can. It might be a synergy thing more than anything. perhaps I should just rebuy the 650s and built a cone of silence for myself

I wonder if a decent recable would clear up a little more high end and bring me closer to that 650 quality sound I miss.
