I just want to reiterate that I have nothing against the OP. (I love my ER-4P too!) Antonyfirst is just the unfortunate victim of my pent up frustration at the many, many negative threads about the TF10s started over the past couple of weeks. I was far too harsh earlier.

The Apple earbud cable is of shockingly good quality. I took the one that came with my iphone and spliced my ER4P onto it. No microphonics at all!

Varies by album. A Jazz album like Kind of Blue can survive some low end EQing, but a modern rock album will definitely clip. This can sound very, very bad. I could actually hear the movement of the driver in addition to the "bass" it was producing, so I gave up on it.

Finally got them about half an hour ago. First impressions: A little tricky to put on, but that's probably because I've never used them before. ER4 was just as tricky the first couple of times. +1 for Apple's IEMs. They're good, relatively inexpensive, and there's the familiarity of the brand and style to get them to think "Hey, maybe this actually is better than what I'm using now."

I was told by an amazon CSR that they were being restocked on December 19th. I requested to be upgraded to 1-day shipping and my est. delivery date went from December 17 to December 22nd, which meshes well with what the CSR said (19th is a Saturday).

I'm just saying that the rhetoric revolving the TF10s was SO overwhelmingly positive, that it's rather remarkable how negative it has become lately. Consider that there's an entire thread dedicated to disappointment by TF10s that is getting rather long! You would have been extremely hard pressed...

I would argue that the very reason why retailers are forbidden from buying from other retailers and reselling the products is that it distorts the market. The second store can just buy a huge amount of stock from the first store and artificially decrease the supply. Nobody is going to go after...

I don't know how hearing protection works for motorcyclists, but be aware that the etymotics foams mentioned above provide 42 dB of isolation, which is quite a lot. With music playing, there's no way you'd be able to hear anything going on around you, which seems more than a little dangerous.
