Sony MDR-EX81 - Has Sony finally lifted their game?

Well, muddy may be too mean... but I think its prone to distortion and the separation between instruments is somewhat weak. However, I haven't given it much burn-in time because it put me off so much when I first listened to it :P Lately, I have been burning it in, so I'll see if it gets much...

Sony MDR-EX81 - Has Sony finally lifted their game?

Does it(EX81) produce a decently deep, full, soundstage? At least close to the KSC3/75s? I love that feature of KSC. I'm really wanting to upgrade from my HJE50... to me it sounds quite muddy and raw; especially crappy straight out of my iPod. It's decent connected to my computer. I want to...

Senn MX450, Panasonic RP HJE50, and Sharp HP-MD33

I have the HJE50s, the KSC75s and the MX450s, and in my opinion, the KSC75 sounds the best, with the MX450 in second and the HJE50s in last. IMO, the MX450 sounds a lot better than the Panasonics. The Panas are very raw sounding, have quite a bit of sibiliance and is lacking in a full or deep...

So you have golden ears? are you sure? good distortion hearing test inside.

Connected to my $50 Logitech 2.1 speakers which are plugged into the minijack on of my G5, my Panasonic HJE50 owned up :P All you other suckers have to put up with either distortion or high bit rate songs that take up space

Sony Ex51 broken after 2 days.

One time, my friend's EX71 left side "broke", and we started messing around with it. I pulled off the tip and he started picking things out the cover of the driver. Put the tip back on and it started working. No idea what happened, but it makes me think that maybe when people say their EXxx...

    Canal tips for my HJe50

Hey, thanks plato. I actually just tried using the large tips and they fit suprisingly well!! They slip right in and the isolation is way better than the small or medium. Not only that, they don't even hurt! Weird! I think the sound is better too

    Panasonic RP-HJE50

Hi, I have the HJE50 and the MX450 and IMO, I like the MX450 a little bit more. Although they don't stay in nearly as well and don't block out sound at all, the MX450 seems to provide more clarity all around. Although the HJE50 is not bad by any means.

    Earphones. Which?

Panasonic HJE50! $20 from Amazon. Same category as the Sharp MD33s, just not as good.

    Canal tips for my HJe50

Alrighty, I'm pretty satisfied with my HJE50s for now, but the comfort level is kind of tricky. The small canal tips are great, but they're a little too small and start to slip out after a while. The mediums stay it great, but they're kind of too big and hurt after a while. I'm wondering what...

    Fed up with MD-33s

Just do the Select All command. Then get info on all of them, and there you change the EQ settings.

    Fed up with MD-33s

Have you tried messing around with EQ settings in iTunes? I have the Panasonic HJE50s and at first I was kind of disappointed. They feature that same sharp high "sshhh" sound you talk about. But after I put some foam over the drivers and edited the EQ settings, they sound pretty nice. What I did...

microphonics in md33 and hj350 and canalphones in general

Hey, thanks for the response! I was wondering if anyone used that mod on the Panasonics. And it's good to hear some positive responses about the cable noise. I can't wait till I get them... I would have gotten them today, but Amazon was out of stock... and apparently every other day they say...

microphonics in md33 and hj350 and canalphones in general

Well, the Panasonics are back in stock at Amazon, so I ordered a pair. I figure I'll just see how I like canalphones and experiment with them. Maybe later on I'll get a pair of E2Cs or MD33s. Funny(and confusing) how some people say the Shures are muddy and then someone turns around and says the...

    Sharp MD33 plug mod (4 pole -> 3pole)

Looking at the E2Cs and MD33s cable length, they seem to be pretty close to each other. 1.57m vs. 1.65m. But perhaps the Shures seem shorter because of how you wear them. However, if you wear the MD33s similarly...

Dang, what an indictment! That might be the worst thing I've read about the MD33. Everything else I see praises them. Really disappointed about the cable noise. I don't think I can return them to audiocubes if they are not sufficient can I... I'm in a tough spot, I think, because I don't want...
