Beta22 or Audio-GD Pheonix as Preamp

My particular YBM build has only 2 3-pin XLRs as outputs, nothing else. The GS-X is an option ive looked at for quite a while, but is kind of beyond my price range now that i have the Beta22. I am estimating i could resale at maybe 1.8-2k? I guess the smartest option at this point would be...

Beta22 or Audio-GD Pheonix as Preamp

Hello everyone! Its been a long time since ive been on this forum, because i have been enjoying my Buffalo32s --> YBM audio built Beta22 Balanced --> HD800 Balanced setup for so long. However, i am looking to incorporate speakers into my setup, and am looking for a little bit of advice. I...

Strange Thing Happens to My Denon AH-D1001's

What is you source? is it through a portable system or a home setup? It could easily be the headphones, but there is a chance something is happening further up the chain

    Headphone Sightings 2

Took a trip into San Francisco yesterday, saw a whole collection: (4) Bose Triports (that i could see, im sure there were more) (1) custom earphone. Could have been UE, JH, im not sure, but they looked a lot like the UE10s and JH13s that i have had (1) Grado sr225 (1) Audio-Technica AD700...

    bass in MD5000, D7000

This is not off of personal experience, but off of hear-say, but i believe that the modded D5000 has less bass. The damping does quite a bit, as i have heard for myself on my D2000s, and i think the D7000 without damping will have more. This is not to say anything about the variation of...

Looking for the Best Headphones in the 100-200$ range

the ESW9 are great for their combination of portability, looks, and the fact that they arent IEMS lol. If i spent more time out of the house with my headphones, i would definitely pick up a pair. I am one of the few people who do not mind wearing IEMs, so i never needed a portable full sized...

That pricing is amazing. I was gonna guess the same as you, around 300+, but $200? thats less than a current D2000 cost, which is really saying something.

Question about Denon cups/specs and materials?

I dont personally know, but you could contact Lawton Audio. They work on these headphones 24/7, and even make aftermarket cups, so they may (no promises) be willing to give you some inside info

Audio Technica ATH-AD700 - Opinions please!

You can't find many headphones that are the equal for the AD700s anywhere near this awesome price range as far as gaming is concerned. Until you get to some very high end open headphones, easily 4 or 5x the price, you won't find this accuracy in soundstage anywhere. Not as fun as my D2000s...

    Zero dac/amp holding rig back?

The source is VERY important in any setup. Your amp cannot improve what it doesnt receive from the DAC. It will definitely be the weakest link in your system. Not to say it will sound bad, but you will get a definite improvement if you upgrade

Help choose an Amp and DAC combination!

Ok, I am on the market for some new audiophile equipment. I am looking for both an amp and a DAC (These can be either together in one unit or seperated out, it doesnt matter to me). The DAC will be hooked up to my laptop (Dell XPS M1530) via a USB cable, at least for now. The headphones will be...

    Best Dance DJs?

i was thinking as dance to be along the line of modern.... electronic would be a good term. I personally love the older dance tunes, but i was trying to match the genre I have found myself loving to play (Benassi is a good style to stem off of... its hard, its bassy, its got a good continuous...

    Best Dance DJs?

Hello everyone. Im here looking for some advice to freshen up my music collection. Heres how it started: A few months ago, i was at a pretty big party with a bunch of friends. The drinks were good, the people were awesome, the turnout was impossibly large, but the music SUCKED! So i ran...

650 setup - what can I spend money on next?

The opus becomes largely pre-built, although there is a small bit of work to do. Im sure you could find someone willing to build one though. I am still busy building my own, and i am not exactly an expert, or i would offer my own services. Of course, i am including a Metronome and a HiFi2000...

650 setup - what can I spend money on next?

the beresford is decent, but probably not up to the standards of the HD650 SQ wise. Besides upgrading that, i would suggest looking at a SS, same as Emooze above me. It will steer away from the warm sound, giving that kick you are looking for. If you want a DAC and are up for some DIY, both...

ATH-AD700 or Beyer DT880 for gaming?

The AD-700 are the best gaming headphones than any under about 600 dollars. They even top some above that level. The soundstage is incredible, and they seem almost effortless in reporting specific locations of sound. The DT880s are decent phones, but inferior for gaming. That is the general...
