B&W P5 or Grado SR325is
neither, get the grado, but you need isolation. I will never recommend the P5 because there are far better sounding headphones at it's price. TMA-1 or the HD-25 depending on your music, HD-25 for rock, classic, pop, etc. TMA-1 for RnB, hip-hop, house, etc- z50j

why do these setups sound so mediocre?
from what I see you are comparing earbuds (open with no bass) to full-sized circum aural (closed and bassy) maybe your the kind of guy that would think Grados are too bassy. when auditioning gear you must use music you know at at least 128kbps bit rate. I think SR80's will be your thing ;)- z50j

to all the owners of the srh440,
It does. In fact I have the E3 and not the E5. But when I audition it with the E5, it's so much better. All in all if you want bass get an E5 or E7. because iirc the E7 and E5 have different ways of reproducing bass but I havent tried my 440 with an E7 so I can't really say. ...- z50j

to all the owners of the srh440,
If you want 440 with the boominess, get the 750 but if you were too excited to wait for the 750 (like me) and got the 440 instead, you can just get an E5- z50j

Looking for the BEST classical sound I can get for 50 bucks
you can always get Grados but for gaming or movies closed headphones are the best especially if they are bass heavy dunno why but that's just the way it is it's just my opinion though I think you should wait until more experienced people give their inputs as I've only been in this...- z50j
