What's that white fabric on the Grados?

Grado owners you know what I mean

what doeas it do to the SQ?

can I remove it without damaging the Sound Sig?

It's a weave of very fine threads. Seems cotton based, to me. I've removed it and it really doesn't have much of an effect on the sound quality at all. However, removing it may effect resale. It's probably only a good idea as a last resort if you come down with "grattle" and are sure a hair is stuck inside there. Otherwise, best left alone.

maybe john grado is just some sicko who puts pieces of his underwear into every headphone? Either that or he uses it for worker motivation.

Either way, it explains the pubes.

They did this in response to complaints re: discomfort from users. It was a huge concession on their part.

Note to self: Never buy Grados

I removed it from the SR60s I'm wearing (and punched out holes in the cloth behind the driver). I like it better that way. It opens up the HF and improves the bass.
