If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...
Quote: Etymotic is just a bit odd with the shipping. If your order is less than $50 they'll ship it by USPS for $2 instead and refund the difference.- vegaman

Data Recovery Service for Failed HDD: I Need One! Give Me Some Advice?
Prickley Peete's link looks like a good bet, and unless the data is incredibly important, you're going to be better off trying to recover it yourself because of the cost. geetarman49: while those suggestions may help in some cases, the bios can't even detect the drive so they won't work in...- vegaman

I'm happy with my current gear, it's certainly good enough for me. The main reason I still buy new gear every so often is curiosity.- vegaman

AKG K340 AMPLIFIER
The Darkvoice amps seem to have the best reputation for K340s I've seen - I still want to get one when I have the money to spare, I think my PPX3 just doesn't have enough power to drive them.- vegaman

Volume Settings...
100% should be 0db, which is what you want. There might be some drivers that go above 0db at 100% though? I'm not sure.- vegaman

Cheapo to plug into a tv
You can use the RCA outputs of the xbox to plug into an amp. It won't sound amazing of course, but it will work.- vegaman

Do you use amp in public?
I always use an amp in public too. I've travelled to China, the UK, Spain, Dubai with my iMod and Headsix velcroed together. I have a beard too (I figure they probably don't like beards) and never had any problems. I was a little dubious when I arrived in Dubai and realised my t-shirt had a...- vegaman

So, ANY laptops with a relatively good sound chip and speakers?
Not that I know of, and the only good (and almost only if you need expresscard) sound cards I know of for them are the Echo cards. I decided to get a USB DAC instead, a bit of a hassle for some I guess, but there's plenty of storage in my laptop bag.- vegaman

What Came In The Mail Today?
Got it cheap as I wanted something half decent for my laptop, much better than I expected though. And it doesn't seem to be very quiet like reviews say, full volume is too loud, tried Darth Beyers and Sennheiser PX200s so far.- vegaman

Post the last thing you bought. Oh fun!
StyleAudio CARAT HD1V - I'm not sure how good this will be, but I got it for a good price And a Three Stones MiniBox-E+ Haven't received them yet, but I should have a reasonable setup for my laptop now, and the amp can replace the HeadSix I use with my iMod.- vegaman

Haha Cnet MP3 Insider 126
I've had friends try to get me to watch "cams" but I can't stand the horrible artifacts so I can't enjoy the movie. But if I watch a proper DVD or HD version of that movie there's less distractions to me and I can enjoy it more. And the same goes for music, but obviously the difference is often...- vegaman

Help With Selling Headphones Overseas
And shipping to the UK you'd have to under-declare a lot, IIRC it's a maximum £18 for a gift to not be taxed. Which could mean a lot of money lost (the buyers money though) if something happens to it. So it should be the buyers choice if you're willing to under-declare. And yeah, they should...- vegaman

What Are You Listening To Right Now?
miami - Great Composers (album) -
Recommend me some Japanese music
Miami - sort of experimental electronica stuff... I'm terrible at putting things in genres Cornelius - electronica Teriyaki Boyz - hip-hop Miami is probably my favourite of those three, and the least mainstream I'll second Melt-Banana too, love them. -
PAYPAL under 18(years old)?
I did the same, I miss that account. It was pretty much a normal savings account, with the normal interest rate, no fees and no penalties for withdrawals or anything. In the UK I got a debit card which worked for online payments at some stores too.- vegaman

Anyone have advice about computer video cards?
A screenshot doesn't show at all what it looks like on your monitor, just what is being displayed. The only reason there is banding in that first picture is that it's been converted to gif = 255 colours, so it's been dithered. And anything wrong in the second screenshot will be due to the fact...- vegaman
