Stax SR-X9000
Unsure how accurate this is but this seems pretty believable. You can probably get a decent assessment from this if all you care about is a bass EQ.- orcawithabat

Stax SR-X1 (new entry model)
I think it’ll depend on a few factors. From what I’ve heard the frequency response may be more “modern” if that means anything so to some people they may prefer it. Either way the l700 has a scooped out 2k-4k or something around that which may cause some to attribute it to soundstage which can...- orcawithabat

I imagine the D10 is the best companion in terms of what most people will use it with. People with the X1 are probably never going to fork up the cash for the carbon or BHSE but of course still super interesting.- orcawithabat

I’d recommend a used Stax T1s. Stax + tubes really is a match made in heaven the T1 is a great option for that. It’s a better 006 if the stax mafia is to be believed. I personally have a modified one- orcawithabat

Disregard my previous message, the x1000 is the combo unit which combines the x1 with the 270 energizer unit- orcawithabat

Stax SR-X1 (new entry model)
Just checked their website and found this. Seems like they didn’t update their pictures but I was shocked to also find the other headphone as well. Are they releasing two?- orcawithabat

CanJam Singapore 2024 Impressions Thread (April 6-7, 2024)
Yeah that’s what I thought as well. Was surprised to see this as those are from the 90s if I remember correctly. Wish they stuck with this color looks far prettier- orcawithabat

CanJam Singapore 2024 Impressions Thread (April 6-7, 2024)
Which Stax IEM was that? That seems like one of the older models as it has the gold plating.- orcawithabat

Stax SR-X9000
I’ve only heard it at audio shows (with the first time it having insane channel imbalance) but I did feel like it was sort of veiled as well. And to be transparent my favorite headphone currently is the 007mk1 which is considered the darkest of all the stax models (apart from the original...- orcawithabat

Stax SR-X1 (new entry model)
To be fair, it depends on what you’re willing to put up with. You can find decent deals on a 3100 system which includes a L300 and 252s to power it. That can be find for well under $550 easy. But again, it would need to be used.- orcawithabat

Stax SR-X1 (new entry model)
I think the x9000 will stay their top tier and everything after this will be some sort of trickled down tech. In 2012 the 009 was released and three years later the updated lambdas were released. The L700 being the major trickle down technology. So I imagine that they’ll either make an updated...- orcawithabat

Stax SR-X1 (new entry model)
This is a great move from them as having an entry level "normal" looking headphone is a great decision. Makes it much easier to consume, especially with the amp/headphone combo. I know many people who enjoy Stax models but don't want to put up with the look of them or spend the money for the...- orcawithabat

Did anyone else have an issue with the x9000 cups being massive? I’m sure it helps as the diaphragm of the driver is much bigger than previous models but man it was massive- orcawithabat

Stax SR-X9000
Recently heard the x9000 at an audio show with the t8000. I compared it with the 007mk2 and with the t8000 I preferred the 007. The x9000 has wayyy more stage and more open feel, but the 007 has a much closer and punchier presentation. That being said I have 3 reasons why I believe the x9000...- orcawithabat
