The Bijou or the Crack OTL amplifier?
The Bijou drives low impedance cans just fine IMHO. Many think otherwise. It sounds fantastic with my 25 ohm Denons and I don't even have the negative feedback circuit in my amp. However, were I using it strictly for low impedance cans, I'd probably opt to include the negative feed back circuit...- audionut

KGSS boards for sale? Alternative power cables?
I built my KGSS on perf board I found at Mouser. However, like others have said, it can be quite "entertaining" Mine went fairly smoothly, but I have over 28 years repairing TV's with HV circuits, and am quite comfortable working with HV. You have to be really careful with detail and component...- audionut

DT990 + Bijou = Love!
Which DT990 version do you have? I have the 600 ohm version and they sound fantastic with my Bijou! My Bijou has the Regal Mods and negative feedback removed. A great combo for sure... Oh, also using the Sovtek 6N1P's on the input stage, which really open up the sound of this amp.- audionut

EHHA Rev A - Interest Thread
Well I've since contacted Jeff at GJA, and he's using the J511's for CRD1 in his kits, and is considering offering them with the PC boards since the 1N5313's are so hard to source now. I ordered 2 of the J511's today from him today, and will start my build sometime next week. I had PM'd Alex on...- audionut

EHHA Rev A - Interest Thread
Gentlemen, Looks like the 1N5313 for CRD1 is no longer available through Mouser. The Mouser tech said the 1N5314 would probably work, but I wanted to see what you guys say and how critical that part is. The data sheet is here http://www.centralsemi.com/PDFs/products/1N5283-5314.pdf My boards...- audionut

Stax 404LE Problem
Yes, I will let you know how it goes with regard to Yamas and their warranty service. Could not reach them by phone, but they promtly responded to my email request. I actually thought it could be wiring problem, too, and that it almost sounded like it had lost bias to the left channel. I...- audionut

Stax 404LE Problem
Well crap, I already sent them off to Yama since they're under warranty. I'll wait and see what they say. I'd never heard of the electret effect as I'm somewhat new to stats. These are my second pair, and I've already been through the dreaded squealing effect with my previous Koss 950's. Never...- audionut

Stax 404LE Problem
I've got a set of 404LE's that are a little less than a year old. Last night, I went to listen to them, and noticed the left channel was noticeably lower in volume than the right. It's as if you had taken a balance control and lowered the left channel several steps. All the music is there, but...- audionut

Bijou All Tube Futterman Headphone Amplifier
Gentlemen, Thanks for the offers and links for the 6n6pi's, but I just realized via the Bijou website that you're not supposed to use the 6n6pi's if you've done the Regal Mods, which I have. Can anyone recommend any other tubes to roll, either in the input or output stage, that I can try in...- audionut

Bijou All Tube Futterman Headphone Amplifier
Can anyone suggest some good sources for the 6n6pi? I'd like to try some in place of my JJ ECC99's to see how they sound in comparison. My searches haven't turned up many places to get these from. Thanks, Tommy.- audionut

DI, Y not build another. Power DT-990 600 ohm.
Try looking into the Bijou tube amp from Cavalli Audio. It's a fantastic DIY amp and powers my DT-990's just fine. It sounds great also!!- audionut

eXStata DIY Electrostatic Amp for Intermediate DIYers
I have a working 350V supply also that I have for my KGSS. It would be easy to hook up to my exstata hybrid, but not sure if that's a good idea and whether it could possibly damage my amp. Maybe Alex or someone else could shed some light on whether this is ok to try and whether it might benefit...- audionut

my new rig:stax 404le,abrahamsen v6 dac, high-amp.de amp
Yes, Congrats! I got my LE's in last week and have really been enjoying them so far with my eXStata Hybrid amp. The build quality of these are really great, especially compared to my Koss ESP's. They sound better also, with the most noticable difference being they have better, deeper bass overall.- audionut
