Hifiman EF2A questions
Bumping this old thread. I'm considering a DAC upgrade, to use with my EF2A, and I'm basically wondering if the Schiit Modi would be a worthwhile upgrade from the built-in Burr-Brown DAC in the EF2A? Or will I need to aim higher for there to be a noticeable difference?- PenDragon

No worries mate. I highly recommend them. I loved my Mullards, but the Raytheons actually seem to be a notch above them.- PenDragon

Aye, and the exterior packaging was great as well. Also didn't take that long to get here at all (from U.S. to Sweden). I believe I payed about $44 including shipping, and I bought them from this excellent eBay vendor http://www.ebay.com/usr/vivatubescom- PenDragon

REVIEW: Head-direct.com HiFiMan EF2 tube Hybrid Amp with USB DAC
Reviving an old gem of a thread. One of my old trusty Mullard tubes finally gave up recently, having been used pretty much 24/7 for I don't know how many years. Today these little beauties arrived. Figured I'd give Raytheon a go this time around, and I must say so far they're sounding great...- PenDragon

Denon Officially Announces Its New Headphones!
Quote: Thing is... the HD800 are still ugly. May sound amazing, but designwise they're still a joke as far as I'm concerned. And while these Denon's aren't as horribly looking as the HD800, they're a clear step backwards when it comes to design. Once again this is all my opinion on the...- PenDragon

REVIEW: B&W (Bowers & Wilkins) P5 Headphones
Question oughta be why you're even looking at anything from bose or monster at all, considering they're inferior to so many other headphones from real hifi brands.- PenDragon

B&W P5 Headphones: An Unboxing of the Bowers & Wilkins P5 Headphones
Thanks a lot Sceptre :) But seeing as I always use my ESW10 for commuting and when I'm on the run in general I guess I have no use what so ever of the P5 ^^ And they're actually not as frail as they may seem, even though I don't doubt the P5 are of a more sturdy build, but since I take excellent...- PenDragon

REVIEW: B&W (Bowers & Wilkins) P5 Headphones
I'm simply astonished by gorgons ability to "twist" words in a manner that couldn't possibly be described as anything but FAIL. You have yet to provide any detailed comparisons to other headphones, such as Skylab did on many occassions. And this has NOTHING to do with seniority, rather people...- PenDragon

B&W P5 Headphones: An Unboxing of the Bowers & Wilkins P5 Headphones
I was actually quite interested when I saw that B&W had jumped into the headphone segment of the audiophile world. Needless to say, I found my way here and started reading the thread, in its entirety. First of all I'd like to thank gorgonmusic for your fanboyism, it really did make me keep...- PenDragon

Opening up as opening up the soundstage even more, bigger sound. And improving on so many different levels, better separation of instruments, everything sounds clearer and better.- PenDragon

REVIEW: Head-direct.com HiFiMan EF2 tube Hybrid Amp with USB DAC
Is it just me or does the D2000 go way better with the EF2 than the ESW10JPN does? Might be the Mullards needing more burn-in, but right now the D2000 sounds leaps and bounds better than the ESW10JPN. And the same definitely can't be said if I do the same test from my Cowon S9, without further...- PenDragon

REVIEW: Head-direct.com HiFiMan EF2 tube Hybrid Amp with USB DAC
Got the Mullard tubes today! \o/ Out of the box impressions in comparison to stock tubes, with the Denon AH-D2000 (obviously subject for change): - Soundstage got quite a bit wider - Separation of instruments increased - Highs became way more controlled and enjoyable, was slightly too...- PenDragon

Valab Dac-First Impressions
After reading 103 pages, and yes, it took a while I'm wondering how the Valab DAC really stacks up with the likes of Little Dot DAC_I, iBasso D10 (primarily the DAC that is). And what are people preferences on NOS vs OS? I'm feeling quite lost here in the DAC jungle, but right now I'm...- PenDragon
