Yes, no tensoin before mounting, just without wrinkles but without tension - the construction does the tensioning itself.- bruma

Yes I fixed these some time ago. The result is very good. The tension is done with the ridge/rim clamping of the holder and that is what I wanted to tell before. The MS2 are very special to restore.- bruma

I did try it the same way once and was disapointed too - it seems that the clamping of the membrane is important for the sound. and another hint: if the mylar is too thin this mechanism does not work as it should in these phones. I like it best with 6uM Mylar. Atb, Markus- bruma

Hi Steve, these ms2's tension the diaphragma, they clamp the diaphragm with a groove and a ridge in the holder. You have to glue it without any tension, just without wrinkles. Atb, Markus- bruma

what cable did you intend to use? I ask, because I would need a new cable and did not find anything adaequate in Austria. I have the pins already (taken from xlr plugs) but I need the cable. Markus PS: Koss delivers not to Austria, the Koss extension cable would be my first choice.- bruma

Hi, there is at least one other option with the bias on the stator (one stator and 2 diaphragm's) shown in this page: http://www.resmayerling.be/electronica/headphone.html it allows the use of aluminized mylar and seems pretty easy to construct. I would be curious how it works.- bruma

Quote: If you like to do some extra work you can make one dipol out of two tweeters: take the magnet with the holes from one and put it into the other one instead of the solid magnet. I have done it and like the result very much - but there is the compromise, that the bass is much weaker...- bruma

update to the HP-1 mods: new earpads made of fine goatskin with visco foam: made the hole smaller than the original (for comparison on the left side of the picture) and got a better seal to the ears and the sound is more involving and direct - like it very much!- bruma

I would not mind any variations in the acoustic front in the mm region, because the wavelenght of 20kHz is 1.7cm. As long as there is no disturbance or any obstacle to the free flow this should have a neglectible influence.- bruma

hi nsgarch, the mod, that you can find as Tomek's guide #2 to YH-100 modification on wikiphonia gave me some ideas. The yh/hp-1 has similar "problems": there is not much space behind the driver and in the center of the back there is a nasty metal part (for the joint). but before going that...- bruma

I have a question to all of you, who have some SFI experience: does it make sense to make a driver out of three SFI's - 2 of the 8 ohm tweeters, respective their magnets with the holes, plus the diaphragma of the 32 ohm dipole? The reason that I ask is that the 8 ohm 2 in 1 SFI that I made...- bruma
