    Review: NAD Viso HP50

I just picked these up refurbished for $220 on Audiogon after reading Inner Fidelity's amazing review of these headphones. Tyill is right-on. I am listening to Bruce Springsteen's concert in Brisbane (FLAC) through a Fatman iTube valve amp. My go-to cans were the HiFiMan 400s, but my first...

Is this a real Grado SR325is?

If they're great sounding and uncomfortable as heck, then it's the Real McCoy.

Hello Head-Fi! Phiaton offers you free gear!

What do I want for Christmas (or sooner)? Not an iPad, but a pair of Phiatons. However wishful thinking that might be, what I like in a set of headphones is soundstage. I want to hear that guitar string plucked, the clarity of a paradiddle, the breathe of Rebecca Pidgeon singing Spanish Harlem...

Which first Grado should I get?

I'd caution you against buying a name brand item, like Grado, in China, which is a hotbed for knockoffs. Shop this board or U.S. retailer sites; you can get a very good deal on B stock or open box Grados. I bought 80i B stock from Head-Fi a few months ago for $75 and I just walked off with an...

    Audioengine A5 downgrade to A2?

A co-worker of mine had the same problem with the A5s; he didn't even place them on a desktop and they were still too powerful for his big condo. I have the A2s on my desk and they are still overwhelming. Great speakers that pack a powerful punch.

Most influencial musician of all time?

If we're talking rock, when I went to a private Sting concert in Las Vegas, he said that The Beatles were, and still are, the most influential of that genre. For a solo performer I would say Elvis. After all he's still the King.

    Please recommend jazz album

Check out Art Pepper; Steve Hoffman did a remastering of Art Pepper Plus 11 that you can buy at Acoustic Sounds ... also, if you like California cool jazz, it's Wes Montgomery ... Myles Davis is OK, but check out Sonny Rollins, John Coltrane and Ray Charles.

Just Canceled Order for Klipsch S4's and Ordered Monster Turbines Instead

Hmmm, I would have waited for the Klipsch. Monster had a set up at Can-Jam for these Turbos. My buddy and I were very unimpressed. They sounded even worse that the worst IEMs we ever listened to, which were manufactured by Shure. Just my opinion ...

    Soundtrack lovers (any one?)

The best soundtrack I've ever heard is "Glory" by James Horner; it's haunting, complex and has the Harlem Boys' Choir that adds to the drama. I wish I had it in vinyl. Also Ennio Morricone's "The Mission" is top notch and I have a compilation of Spaghetti Westerns on LP from Japan that's one of...

    Sennheiser HD800 Appreciation Thread

I was at Can-Jam Saturday with a buddy and we made a bee-line to the HD800s. We were underwhelmed to say the least. At that price tag we expected a WOW factor, but the sound was airy, but level, to say the least. I much preferred the Grado GS1000, Stax and Sony. My buddy, who is a Senn nut...
