Sorry to bump this after a week, but; I was looking at getting UM1s about 6 months ago for $100, but then deleted Head-Fi from my bookmarks, wallet almost unscathed... So now I'm back, are UM1s still the best choice for that all-rounder, slightly warm sound? [EDIT] Ok, so I searched around...

Does anyone know where the cable will connect on the Music Makers line? In the Lovers line it connects in the middle of the IEM, but I'm hoping that in the Makers line it will be connected on the side like the UEs. That is, up in the corner near the top of your ear. Any news on this?

Haven't you paid a massive price to get the cable how it is? And isn't some of that price going into the termination and soldering of it?

Yeah, fair enough. But I was talking more generally - is there a set of phones with that kind of signature? I head used HD600s (or maybe even new?) are in my price range...

I'm a big fan of this listening, too. Only some songs can put me in this state, though... It all depends what mood I'm in, really.

I'm planning on getting something like the LD MkII. And I've listened to the HD555s, which are the only cans that I've been able to find that are remotely Head-Fi worthy on sale around here. I wasn't impressed, not much of a step up from my 515s.

Bah, can't afford those. US$250 (including shipping to Australia) is the absolute highest I can go. Is there anything in the next bracket down?
