    Millett "Starving Student" hybrid amp

Got a bit of a shielding question I didn't see answered - I've recently started using my Starving Student with my ER6i and/or RP-21, as opposed to my 80-ohm DT770s. This combo of lower impedance/higher sensitivity has led me to notice a quite obnoxious rendition of my college's FM radio station...

tripath chips, where can I get them?

After some digging around, it seems that Tripath Inc merged with Etelos, Inc and then proceeded to drop off the face of the earth. Their website is down and I cannot find their products at any supplier I would normally source from. I'll keep looking. EDYTrade looks to be a reasonably...

Ripping vinyl with EMU 0404 USB

When you had both left and right routed into the single 1/4", were you using a stereo 1/4" plug? If so, I would bet the signal was being interpreted as a balanced input, hence your issues with distortion. I would use each 1/4" input as mono, with an adapter such as this (or one of the...

What rate do you rip your music at ?

I keep lossless copies of all my CDs on the computer for archival purposes - my Zen receives LAME V0 transcodings of those. With my current gear, I can't discern a difference.

How warm are everybody's mosfet heatsinks? I used the standard ones from the BOM, but they are very warm to the touch even after just a few minutes on. Is this pretty normal?

Your link is a little screwy, arande2. Looks like you have an extra "http://".

I have a pair of Sylvanias and an RCA Victor; along with a Hytron that appears to be an RCA rebrand. I can't discern any difference between them from a sound standpoint.
