want to buy a few dip mount tripath chips (2020, 2050). I know there are kits out there but after building an Amp32 I don't want to mess with somebody else's design any more (apparently I am not impressed by 41Hz's layout and instructions.).

where can I get the tripath chip as just the IC's?

After some digging around, it seems that Tripath Inc merged with Etelos, Inc and then proceeded to drop off the face of the earth. Their website is down and I cannot find their products at any supplier I would normally source from. I'll keep looking.

EDYTrade looks to be a reasonably reputable supplier and, at least according to thier website, has the TA2024 in stock.

tripath went out of business several years ago, apparently due to some shady (i.e. illegal) behind-the-scenes bookkeeping practices, but there are still plenty of the chips floating around in various places out there. 41hz sells the chips in their store http://www.41hz.com/shop.asp?show=99
