You won't be disappointed. They are a fantastic pair of headphones, and even run off my iPod nano (no, I don't wear them out in public, they are rather huge for that ) Nice, balanced, warm, smooth, detailed sound. Sound good before burn-in, but they only improve with time.

My iPod Nano drives my Denon D2000's fine. Unless you're crazy, you don't need an amp. You might get an almost imperceptible increase in quality using expensive source, DAC and amp components... but for the average joe, it isn't worth it.

Some people are born deaf. I don't know, maybe some people are born unable to hear past 7.5 kHz. You may have had this problem from birth and it won't make a difference, or it could be a sign of bad things to come... best get it checked out by an audiologist in any case, I think.
