CanLanta 2013
I'll be coming this Saturday as well. It's been a few years since my last event, so I am looking forward to catching up with folks! I am traveling light this year, so I'll only be bringing my old school Grado RS1s (with wooden grill buttons) and my portable Cowon Z2 DAP. Mark- BigAmish

Review: Yulong D100 DAC/amp - reference quality with a reasonable price
Quote: I use Grado RS-1s (not the i version) and find the D100 neutral & very revealing. That being said, bright recordings will be very evident using RS-1s. However, unlike most on this thread, I find that Soundmode 2 takes the edge off of sibilant recordings quite nicely without...- BigAmish

Review: Yulong D100 DAC/amp - reference quality with a reasonable price
Quote: I purchased mine through wsz0304 on eBay. Arrived at my house (East coast USA) in exactly one week, much to my amazement as eBay shipping estimates ranged from 2 - 3 weeks. I haven't had much time to listen & am burning it in as we speak, but I can definitely say that this is...- BigAmish

Review: Yulong D100 DAC/amp - reference quality with a reasonable price
Just ordered the D100! Fills a perfect solid-state amp & DAC niche in my current system. How come every time I return to Head-Fi after a long absence I end up dropping ~$500 on a new purchase? Great reviews by project86 & Skylab certainly don't help. My wallet curses the both of you.- BigAmish

MAD Ear+ Purist HD thread.
Quote: Congrats on the find! Let us know your long-term impressions if you can. I am enjoying a brand-new pair of red-label GE 12B4As that just arrived today & I love their dynamic range. Very slightly better than my heavily used white-label GEs (without the microphonics), and...- BigAmish

MAD Ear+ Purist HD thread.
Keeping the wonky-tube discussion going...(cheap bump) I am ashamed to say that up until several days ago I was considering selling my MAD Ear+ HD, but thankfully that has all changed. For the last several months I have been thinking that I needed an upgrade from my MAD Ear+ HD as I was...- BigAmish

Do tubes degrade in SQ over time? How long does it last?
Quote: Great advice here. I was recently getting bored with my MAD Ear+ HD tube amp because it was sounding about as good as my Clip+ --> CMoyBB 2.02 setup with my Grado RS-1s. I thought I was losing my mind as I recall being blown away when I first got the MAD Ear+ HD several years...- BigAmish

Head-Direct RE0 Appreciation Thread
Just got my set a couple of days ago & finished burning them in for ~ 20 hrs. Very, very nice sounding using my new Sansa Clip+ (unamped). As a die-hard Grado fan, I am impressed. I was surprised that I ended up preferring the smaller set of double flanged tips as I have large ear canals &...- BigAmish

Head-Direct RE0 Appreciation Thread
Just ordered a set of these to replace my old set of MylarOneX3s that fell apart a few months ago. Hoping it pairs well with my new Clip+, which should be arriving at nearly the same time. I thought that I was done with headphone purchases for the duration...it is amazing how this site sucks you...- BigAmish

MAD Ear+ Purist HD thread.
No problem sbulack. Had been using the GT for about 6 months straight & for no particular reason decided to swap back to one my 'go-to' Sylvania Grey Plates to note the differences. Was surprised how well the GT held up! The GT is definately a different beast than the Sylvania, but the sound...- BigAmish

MAD Ear+ Purist HD thread.
Hi all, Does anyone have any impressions of the Groove Tubes GT-5751M pre-amp tube with the MAD EAR+ HD? I've been using one as a low-cost new production tube & have been enjoying it quite a bit more than I thought I would. Nice warm, enveloping sound with good detail levels. My only gripe so...- BigAmish

OPPO 83 question.
I've had mine for a bit over a month & love it to death as it single-handedly vaulted my HTS from low-end adequacy (in both audio & video) to mid-ranged goodness. I hesitate to get into discussions of whether it is better than other similarly/higher-priced components as I lack the funds to...- BigAmish

What beats the Oppo?
Since I was a one of the participants in the thread that suggested modding the SCD-CE595 I figured I'd better chime in here. I just want to reiterate my overall opinion that: (1) The SCD-CE595 sound improves significantly after a week or two of constant burn in. (2) The Auricap mod mentioned...- BigAmish
