I own both an hd580 and a dt770. Sonically, even unamped and straight out the headphone out of my computer, the hd580 are in a different league than the dt770 IMHO. However, the dt770 are far from bad sounding, and the isolation they provide is great for drowning out my annoyingly loud case fan...
