DAC upgrade from emu 0404 usb
Best DAC for the money is a modified Beresford DAC called the Super Berry done by K Works in Clifton, NJ. It has rivaled my MSB Signature Platinum III DAC (17K) vs ballpark $800 with all the right mods done. Benchmark DAC didn't even stand a chance against the Super Berry. Call Igor, owner of K...- paulllaser

Looking at the spacing in these great photos under magnification, the current pin spacing is 4 mm and the HD800 spacing is 3 mm. Looks like a no go to me. -

How do you listen to your music?
Music is my source of inspiration, relaxation, motivation, and general enjoyment. It is playing whenever I can arrange it. At work when feasible between patients, at home reading, doing paperwork, doing chores, watching TV (yeah it can be done), in the can, even going to sleep. Traveling by car...- paulllaser

your favorite cocktail?
Good old fashioned classic cocktails. Burbon Manhattan, up with a stemmed cherry, Jim Beam or Maker's Mark and a Classic Sidecar - Hennessy, Cointreau, fresh lemon/lime juice, touch of something orange, perhaps Gran Marnier, and garnish with a sugar rimmed glass and toasted orange rind. The best...- paulllaser

Advice -- phono stage?
I would suggest you look into the Clearaudio Micro Basic. New $350 but they are on AgoN often for $150 - 175. It is an astoundingly good phono pre for the money. Has MM & MC switch. Acoustic Sounds has them new for $275. I believe they are at the end of production, replaced by the Basic for $900.- paulllaser

HD-650... the perfect amp?
At the NYC Spring 2008 Meet I heard balanced 650s through both a RSA Apache and SP Supra Balanced. These 2 amps brought the 650s to another level for me. I now listen through a B-52 and won't look back.- paulllaser
