Martin Logan Mikros 90 On-Ear Headphones
All I can say is returning a modded pair using the "they were imbalanced before I opened them up" is a bit slippery. I was feeling guilty just doing the reverse pad mod (in terms of returning them). However, I like them stock with a little tweaking and basically would never return a $69 pair of...- mymymyopie

[New] Philips Fidelio X1
Fair enough. Just to clarify the DT990 review comment, many other people LOVE their sound. So that was my point, I guess. I hope you do eventually enjoy the X1s. Also, comfort-wise they work great for me too, seems other owners also find them a good fit, not scratchy, etc. Some people are...- mymymyopie

Also, the Grado SR225i is not a warm sounding phone, and I still have the SR80s, also not warm sounding, and like them too with the right pads.- mymymyopie

[New] Philips Fidelio X1
No, criticism is valid and understandable. On the flip side, I read some reviews of the DT990s and there are a few people who have nothing good to say about them, calling them screechy treble machines, stuff like that. So my only point is, you probably are not gonna like the X1s. Saying they are...- mymymyopie

[New] Philips Fidelio X1
Guess you probably should just stick with the DT990 Pro. Saying this sucks and that stinks and so on doesn't really say much at all. I have the X1s, with some burn in and using them with the C&C BH Amp and my iPod Classic (160GB), lossy or lossless (I have an iPod for each format), the X1s sound...- mymymyopie

Martin Logan Mikros 90 On-Ear Headphones
Thx. Will check that out in 4-5 days after continuous play. Don't need them so wanted to get 200+ hours on them and then see where it all goes. They will be used around the house, second fiddle to my X1s really. So no rush to use them. I also have some CIEMs here and a couple of other favorite...- mymymyopie

Martin Logan Mikros 90 On-Ear Headphones
So have like 100 hours on the stock 90s, did the reverse pad mod but reversed it back (reversals galore). They sound fine, excellent in fact, out of my iPhone 5, but...I need to EQ them via Onkyo HF app, taking the bass up and the 8k freq down a small amount. With that, excellent with the HP out...- mymymyopie

Okay, I am using my usual tower pc hp out as a burning station. Guess I could hook up the auvio cable, repeat play a bass heavy track and forget about them until next Tuesday. That's what I will do.- mymymyopie

Anyone in search of the Auvio 6-foot cable, I will sell you mine at cost. I tried it out today, but it seems to really increase the harshness of the highs. I spent all of 10 minutes at Radio Shack and $3 at the register, so worth a try. Just not an improvement to me. Just PM me if you want the...- mymymyopie

No doubt someone here can get you a cheap pair of 90s if they are not down in price in Canada. I guess the shipping to Canada has to be part of the equation, so not much you can do.- mymymyopie

Martin Logan Mikros 90 On-Ear Headphones
Same here, I can't ever think that for the value I get from these two, even once the new toy shine wears off on the ML90s, will cause me to shed them. I've owned some pretty decent full sized and portable phones, and I laugh when I think what I paid for these two by comparison (total price that...- mymymyopie

Martin Logan Mikros 90 On-Ear Headphones
No problem. For fear of destroying my pair, I am going to stick with the C&C BH/iPod combo and the switches. I am primarily using the X1s anyhow, but I do like these phones, even my stock version. I had not thought of trying Out 2 and maybe I am crazy, but it just seemed to smooth things out...- mymymyopie

Just discovered the Out 2 on the C&C BH amp is a match made in heaven for the ML90. Hi Gain, SF and LF switches all turned on. It does tax the volume pot, but just fantastic. And the bass ... no need for me to mod I don't think. More burn in though. For anyone who might have the C&B BH.- mymymyopie

Martin Logan Mikros 90 On-Ear Headphones
Wasn't looking for another pair of phones after grabbing the Fidelio X1s for $149 on Amazon back when, but decided to take a ride on the ML90 hype train. When I went to order at Newegg for the $79 with $20 rebate, it had expired on Friday (I went to order Saturday). The price was $68.99, and I...- mymymyopie

New to high end IEM's, and a little disappointed
I have the X1s as well and to be honest, you will have a hard time finding an IEM that can match them for sound quality (I formerly owned the HD600, Sr225i and the AT AD900X, and the X1s are much preferred over that group). I mean, especially at that price. I have heard the Westone W3 and W4 and...- mymymyopie

Review: Very Best Cheap In-Ear Headphones -- 40 models tested
Very interesting, thanks for the link. I may have to try a pair for fun. I sent the link to a lot of my friends who don't want to spend much on headphones. There is an alternative, of course. What I try to do is wait for special deals on more expensive phones. For example, I got a pair of Sony...- mymymyopie

Portable Comparison: Koss Porta Pro vs Sennheiser PX 100-II
Quarter mod is cutting a small hole in the middle ofthe 414 pads. With Grados, for example, you make the holes and then, oddly enough, use the small how to stretch over the driver basically using them in reverse, hence what they call the reverse quarter mod. I have the small hole in the 414s for...- mymymyopie

[New] Philips Fidelio X1
In my case that's what I did but I also prefer the shorter media bridge cable. Also, it's mini to mini so no need for the adaptor.- mymymyopie

[New] Philips Fidelio X1
Good match, the X1 and C&C BH. I have both also and got the X1 at $149. I also bought the cheap alternate cable, Mediabridge, a 4-footer because I really like the short cable (use the X1 sitting down, not moving around). No, it's not neutral, but it's hardly a bass cannon as some have callled...- mymymyopie

Portable Comparison: Koss Porta Pro vs Sennheiser PX 100-II
Listening to the PPs right now, with the HD414 pads. Comfort is improved and I think the thicker foams takes a bit of the edge off without ruining the signature. Also, if you search for Tera Player, it's a very esoteric $1,000+ high end DAP, and the guy who created it, based in Germany I think...- mymymyopie

Portable Comparison: Koss Porta Pro vs Sennheiser PX 100-II
Good comparison. Small upgrade to both phones, the HD414 pads. With the Senns, I quarter modded them (bring out the treble a bit) and with the PPs, I leave the pads stock. I like the changes those pads bring, $10 a pair or less. You may know this, but a friend of mine from Europe says the PPs...- mymymyopie
