What earbuds to upgrade to from Klipsch X11? Need same comfort.
Yes. I really don't like the "over the ear" designs like the high-end Sony IEMs, for example.- Robonaut

What earbuds to upgrade to from Klipsch X11? Need same comfort.
I've been using Klipsch X11 earbuds for years now. They were quite a revelation for me, since I had previously found every other earbud I'd tried uncomfortable for long periods. The X11s, though, I could wear all day at work with no discomfort. While the X11s sound pretty good, their sound...- Robonaut

Searching TOP CD / SACD player with headphone output
I would look for an older Marantz, like the SA-8001. The SACD playback is great and the built-in headphone amp should be all you ever need unless you have some extremely demanding cans.- Robonaut

Sennheiser HD800 S Impressions Thread (read first post for summary)
I haven't purchased a new pair of full-sized headphones in years, but I'm in the market now, so I decided to give the HD800S a try. I'd always owned closed headphones in the past, so I was curious what a high-end open design was like. I've been listening to them all evening, taking breaks here...- Robonaut

Music server which *won't* require me to re-rip all my CDs?
I'm looking for a music server to use while at work. Ideally, what I want is something where I can just take a portable hard drive, plug it in via USB, and listen to the thousands of CDs I've ripped to WAV over the years. However, the few music servers I've researched (Sony HAP-Z1ES and...- Robonaut

Looking for closed headphones
If you want headphones that don't leak, stay away from the Denons--they leak terribly (at least my D7000s did). I use Beyerdynamic DT-770s at work. They don't leak at all (unless you're playing your music at some sort of insane volume).- Robonaut

TEAC UD-301 or Cambridge Audio DAC Magic Plus or ????
I'm looking for a DAC around $500 to interface between my PC (via USB) and my Genelec 8030A speakers. The Genelecs are powered speakers with XLR inputs, so I'd like a DAC with balanced outs. Also, a variable volume control on the DAC's output is a must. It seems like either the TEAC...- Robonaut

TEAC UD-301
I'm thinking of getting one of these to use between my PC (via USB) and a pair of Genelec 8030A monitors. Is there anything else I should be considering at this price (or a little more)? I really like that the TEAC has balanced outs (unlike, say, the Sony UDA-1).- Robonaut

Sony HAP-Z1ES. New High-Res Streamer/Music Server from Sony
I agree that it looks cool, but I'm not seeing what makes it worth twice the price of the HAP-S1/S.- Robonaut

Help choosing Studio Monitors
I've used Genelec 8030A monitors for years with no complaints. Superb detail, plenty of bass, massive soundstage--pretty much anything you could want in a monitor. You should be able to find a used pair for under $1k.- Robonaut

Sony MDR-7520
I picked up a pair of these this week because I saw that they were down to $360 at Amazon (which is a lot better than the $500 that Sony wants if you buy them direct). I've been comparing them to my workhorse Beyerdynamic DT-770s that I've been using for six years. First impressions on...- Robonaut

Device with Built-In Headphone Amp for Listening to Music Directly Off Hard Drive for under $500?
I'm looking for an all-in-one solution for listening to music while at work. Basically, I want to be able to hook up my 3TB hard drive full of music to a device and listen to the music via headphones. I don't want to have to use a computer for anything because I don't want the company's...- Robonaut

beyerdynamic T5p: Photos and first impressions.
Quote: Nope, never tried the T1. I've no interest, really, in the T1 (or open headphones in general) since I can't use them at work. However, even compared to my DT-770 and D7000 (which are also closed headphones), I thought that the T5p sounded boxy.- Robonaut

beyerdynamic T5p: Photos and first impressions.
Quote: I've considered them, but since they seem to have kind of mixed reviews and don't seem to be available from vendors with an easy return policy (like Amazon), I've never tried 'em.- Robonaut

beyerdynamic T5p: Photos and first impressions.
I received my T5p in the mail yesterday, and I've been listening to them almost nonstop since. I've been comparing them to my DT770 and D7000 headphones using a variety of music, from Tangerine Dream to OMD to the Smiths to Skrillex to Baldassare Galuppi. Bottom line: Sad to say, but...- Robonaut

Is anyone wearing the T5P with eyeglasses? If so, how is the comfort? Also, is the isolation and lack of sound leakage as good as the DT-770?- Robonaut

A question about diminishing returns
I agree that, once you get used to a pair of headphones, they tend not to "wow" you like they used to. I know that when I bought my first set of (somewhat) high-end heaphones (Beyerdynamic DT-770s), I was blown away by them. After a while, though, I started to find flaws in their...- Robonaut

ULTRASONE NEW ANNOUNCED HEADPHONE Signature Pro
Is anyone wearing the Sig Pros with eyeglasses? If so, how comfortable are they? I'm curently using DT-770s and they are suprisingly comfortable with my glasses on. My concern with the Sig Pros is that, if they have a lot of clamping pressure, they will be digging the arms of my...- Robonaut

Looking for Closed Headphones with Great Isolation--$1K-ish budget
