    Amp for HE-560

I'm looking for an amp that can easily drive my Hifiman HE-560, because my FiiO E9 just doesn't really cut it. At maximum volume on high gain, it is just beginning to reach my normal listening level, and honestly sometimes I just want to listen to my music louder than that. My criteria: -...

    Closed back headphones around $300

I've read lots of threads on this but still haven't found what I'm looking for (-insert U2 track here-). My criteria: -closed back -very comfortable, preferably with deep, spacious pads -circumaural -portable - I want to be able to wear them around my neck without them acting as a neck brace...

Better pads for PSB M4U 2?

I just got my PSB M4U 2 in the mail, and they're pretty decent overall, but not very comfortable. It seems that deeper pads would help a lot, but I don't know where to find larger pads that would fit them... By any chance, has anyone used anything other than the stock pads on these headphones...

Is it worth buying an external DAC to listen to 256kbps AAC?

Pretty much what the title asks... The vast majority of my music (around 40-50GB of music) is either 256kbps AAC or 320kbps MP3, so switching everything to lossless is not a very realistic option unless I want to spend the next 5 years downloading files... I've been thinking about buying an ODAC...

Quick (and maybe stupid) question about FiiO E9 + Macbook

I was reading through an old thread from 2011 in which a couple people stated that you should always use the Line Out instead of the Headphone Out with the E9 (or with any amp, I guess)... If I am understanding correctly, they mean that you should use the Line Out port on the source, not the amp...

Is the difference between MP3/4 and FLAC exaggerated, or am I just missing something?

I finally got around to downloading my first FLAC files today, and I was doing a comparison between the FLAC and MP4 versions of the same songs (The Great Gig in the Sky and Brain Damage by Pink Floyd at 192kbps vs. 1014 kbps, and Empire Ants and On Melancholy Hill by Gorillaz at 160kbps vs...

Music you listen to to relax.

I started compiling a playlist of all the music I listen to when I just want to relax, and I found it kind of interesting picking out the songs that fit that specific mood for me, so I wanted to see what other people like to relax to while enjoying their high-end audio setups. It can be certain...

    Koss PRO DJ100 w/ SRH-840 pads?

Okay, so I ordered a pair of Koss PRO DJ100's yesterday, but from what I've read about them, their earpads are too thin/poorly shaped to properly fit around the ear, so it seems many people prefer to use them with M50 pads instead. Since I plan on ordering a headphone amp off of Amazon pretty...

Need a pair of headphones for $150 or less

I was debating whether to post this here or in the full-sized section, as what I am looking for is just a pair of headphones that I can wear when I walk home from school. I currently only have one pair of headphones (srh-840's), which I absolutley love the sound of, but they are much too large...

Trying to decide what pair of headphones to buy...

Okay, so I posted a thread before, asking for suggestions on headphones, and I had a pretty long list of criteria I wanted them to meet, and it seemed that the Shure SRH-440's were my best option; but after visiting my local Best Buy and trying out multiple pairs (not including the Shure's...

    Looking for some recommendations...

I'm hoping this is the correct forum in which to post this, but as the title states, I need some reccomendations on which set of headphones to get. This will be my first real pair of headphones (unless you count the old crappy on-ear ones that used to come with cheap portable CD players), so my...
