Got a brand-spankin'-new pair of UM-2's. Here's a review!
I got my UM-2s today as well and I am trying them out with short comply tips currently. It is pretty nice how they isolate me and allow me to feel alone with my music for the most part (since I have never tried closed cans before). I have also noticed how they are revealing of details and subtle...- GuardianKnight

Parasound Zamp v.3 goodness
I just recently bought a Parasound Zamp v.3 Zone Amplifier to supply power to my speakers. It definitely makes a real difference, I am noticing many new and clearer details. My current setup needs more low end sound though (that is why I have a HSU STF-1 subwoofer on order). It also comes with a...- GuardianKnight

Raleigh meet: What May day?
Drool...I wanna try out those Singlepower tube amps...might be something to invest in for the future...once I find a new source of income. I guess since Saturnine is bringing his comp then I don't have to bring mine over. I can just burn a dvd or 2 with all my reference songs on em (encoded in...- GuardianKnight

SuperMacro-3 a review
Wee! I got my SM V3 today! It sounds totally fantastic even without burn in. The sound stage seems expanded and I can hear even more details when compared to my V1. Also channel separation is more distinct. I will let you all know more once I burn it in fully.- GuardianKnight

Sonic T-amp w/ sub and speakers?
Nvm...seems my question has been answered by this thread: http://www6.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=112462 -
Sonic T-amp w/ sub and speakers?
The primary source I am going to be using for this would be my computer with a EMU 0404 in it. So the basic layout I wanted would be: EMU 0404 > Sonic Impact T-amp > Subwoofer > Speakers Hopefully this clears up some questions you guys might have. -
Sonic T-amp w/ sub and speakers?
Is it possible to connect the Sonic T-amp to a subwoofer with high level inputs like the Dayton 10" sub (http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshow...32&ctab=6#Tabs) and then connect some speakers(I plan on getting the Ascend CBM-170s) to the sub's high level outputs? Hopefully this can be done so I...- GuardianKnight

Raleigh meet: What May day?
I would prefer the 14th since final exams end for me on the 10th. I will be staying at home in Cary so hopefully the location will preferably be w/in a 1/2 hr driving distance. I can bring my Rio Carbon, MS-1 (w/ Headphile beta pads), Supermacro-3 amp (should be coming in this week or the next)... -
C PAds from headphile
Oh yeah one other thing to add, I really don't have to use any equalizer (Foobar2K or E-MU DSP Mixer) right now to tweak the sound to my liking. Seems like the C-pads are definitely the solution I have been looking for all along (they even got me thinking about getting my MS-1 woodied in Paduak...- GuardianKnight

Which pads you like best for your Grado ?
I got my Beta C-pads yesterday and I can already tell that they are what I have been looking for all along (Full detail with comfort). I heartily recommend em even though they almost cost the same amount as my MS-1's.- GuardianKnight

C PAds from headphile
Holy motha of god! I just got my Beta C-pads today and tried them out (still doing so in fact). I find that they have widened the soundstage up so much that I feel lost ("Is this still the same pair of MS-1's that I had yesterday?" pops up in my mind). Yeah I know they are but in addition to the...- GuardianKnight

Interest in a Raleigh NC area meet?
Hrmm...seems like I discovered this thread a lil too late. Hopefully I can make the next meeting. I attend school at State, live in a dorm, and my home is in Cary btw. I can bring over a Rio Carbon, a SuperMacro, ATH-CM7Ti earbuds, and my MS-1 with beta C-pads. With my schedule this semester...- GuardianKnight

Ready To Purchase A Supermacro
I just got my Supermacro today and I am totally blown away by the increase in sound quality, they really give some extra life to my headphones (delaying upgradetitus but for how long though? ). I still have to figure out a more convinient way to carry it around with my Carbon for the ultimate...- GuardianKnight

HD25-1 OFC cable!
Does the HD 25-1 use the same connectors as the HD 600 or the HD 650? Just wondering since I might be interested in purchasing the phones and don't want to ship the stock cables to Larry for the upgrade process.- GuardianKnight

Sealed cans for around $200
Hrmm...I think I found a promising deal on the AKG K271S, $149.99 at djmart.com. I think I will just nab it from there and try it out, headphile has a cable upgrade for them so I will have an opportunity to enhance them in the future easily by myself if I wish to do so, otherwise I will sell...- GuardianKnight

Man...I wish I lived in a more populated area where people actually held meets so I could try these phones out easily. Sealed cans for around $200
Hi everyone, I am looking for my first step into mid-fi cans for around $200. I want to have a pair of headphones that is closed since so far I have obtained only open cans (MS-1 and ATH-CM7Ti). Portability would be a nice plus but not a necessity (unless they are could totally replace the...- GuardianKnight
