Is it possible to connect the Sonic T-amp to a subwoofer with high level inputs like the Dayton 10" sub (http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshow...32&ctab=6#Tabs) and then connect some speakers(I plan on getting the Ascend CBM-170s) to the sub's high level outputs? Hopefully this can be done so I can finalize my plan for my initial bookshelf speaker w/ subwoofer setup.

I'm not sure what the sub hi/low level inputs are meant for, you're assuming they are for hi-low frequency, not output spl level right? In which case, it would make much more sense to split the source at the interconnect. A two way splitter at output of your source, one leading to the sonic t-amp powering speakers, and another going into the input of the powered subwoofer.

probably not, if yuo mean both teh speakers and subwoofer are passive. i got a bookshelves speakers with 91dB sensitivity and above 85db it already starts to distort. this amp only output 15watt.

Short answer: for the application you stated, Yes.

You just have to be careful of the true sensitivity of the speakers because most marketing departments lie and cheat if they can get away with it. And they can.

See here for third party measurements of the ascends: http://www.soundstagemagazine.com/me...cend%5Fcbm170/
89db is not too bad.

I think the t-amp only offers up about 5 watts cleanly, so for those of you who already get good volume with the t-amp off of those 6 watts...shows what HT and car audio marketing wants to sell you re: power, eh? This thread may help: http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showt...threadid=50779

Check out this page (referenced on the last thread I mentioned) for some measurements and mods. http://www.michael.mardis.com/sonic/

Most subs are 4Ohm, and require a fair bit of power, certainly far more than a 5W amp. Anyway that Dayton is active, so you don't need a amp. Send either low or high level (line or speaker) to the sub from your pre-amp or stereo pre-amp.

High level only uses negligable power just for the signal.

The primary source I am going to be using for this would be my computer with a EMU 0404 in it. So the basic layout I wanted would be:

EMU 0404 > Sonic Impact T-amp > Subwoofer > Speakers

Hopefully this clears up some questions you guys might have.
