iPhone 7 Will Revolutionize Portable Audio for the First Time in a Decade

Hi I can't read the thread atm, but what's the consensus on the dongle? Does it have a dac and is it good? I have a 6s right now NOT interested in the 7, but a $9 dongle to improve sound well why not

My first open-air headphone - $400 or less - thoughts on these options

It just means it has both emphasized bass and emphasized treble

Tried out DT 770 80 ohm, not happy other suggestions?

Well it's a $300 headphone but used some people have gotten them for like $150. I got mine for $250 a while back and worth every penny

    HD598 or HD600? Upgrade from HD518? Also, appropriate/better DAC/pre-amp than e10k.

I had the 518 and I quite liked it but yes the 558/598 are pretty big upgrades in terms of clarity and soundstage, the 518 sounds muffled in comparison despite having the same drivers. And the 600/650 quite a bit better than the 598. And if you do get a good amp/dac setup the 600/650 will surely...

Tried out DT 770 80 ohm, not happy other suggestions?

None of those have much bass punch, check out the fidelio x2 they're pretty great sounding

    Momentum, H7 or QC25 ??

I think the qc25s sound a bit better than the momentum wireless, plus they indeed are still having issues with the Bluetooth. The qc25s are good especially if you'll be traveling. Just b sure to keep batteries ready because they sound awful with noise cancelling off. And I wouldn't too worry...

    Pair of Studio Headphones-

The nad viso hp50 for closed but since you can swing it might as well get the open senn hd650 for studio use your mixes will thank you, they also have user replaceable parts so they should last forever. I've had mine for 4 years now and still looks new (I did change the pads once)

Why are Bose SoundTrue rated so much higher than Head-Fi Recommended?

I got the Bose sound link on ear Bluetooth as a xmas present and it's been my daily driver ever since, it is easily and I mean easily the best sounding Bluetooth headphone I've ever heard.

Head-Fi Basshead IEM thread (lists page 1)

Looks like I'm sold on the xb90s they look quite potent. How's the comfort?

    Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread

I have the Ivory ones and thinking about getting the SE just because I've always preferred the look of the 558 and now the 598s look even cooler. Kinda scared by all this sounding different stuff tho. Someone send their pair to Tyll to measure!

MEE Audio Pinnacle P1 - $199 Dynamic Driver Flagship *Reviews 2nd Post*

That looks rather pleasing, you wouldn't happen to have another set of measurements to use as a reference for comparison would ya, oh pretty please

Head-Fi Basshead IEM thread (lists page 1)

On a scale of one to awesome how good are the Sony xb90, I have the h3 which is ok but the bass is pretty muddy and vocals too recessed plus it's an ergonomic nightmare for walking around. Want something cheaper and more disposable with plenty of good deep bass rumble and also a good soundstage...

Sennheiser Momentums 2.0 just not loud enough on PC

Coming from your beats and the cx300, the Momentums are gonna have way and I mean way less bass than those. They are a bit harder to drive although it shouldn't be that bad to the point you need an amp, they are a little bit easier than an m50x for example and those don't need an amp either...

    Looking to buy something good..

Ya he's right, if they're anything like my denons and the fostex models they were based on, then they are basically open

    sub 50$ closed headphones?

No problem, both of those are pretty neutral. If you can specify if he would be ok with an on ear, or must have tons of bass then there are other options as well

My first open-air headphone - $400 or less - thoughts on these options

The Philips x2 is awesome for what u want but man that's an expensive price for those. The bright side is that you don't really need an amp for them

Best closed back over-ear headphones under 200 that DON'T need an amp

Get the hyperx cloud they isolate a little better than the m50. The beyerdynamic mids(voices, etc) are too recessed and they get harsh in the treble especially with top 40

    Looking to buy something good..

Get the pm3 they look great and are comfy too. They EQ really well so if you want more bass punch or treble they handle it like champs. Momentum 2s are also good but the pm3 is better imo

    sub 50$ closed headphones?

Ausdom m05 is like 50 bucks and is even wireless to boot and sounds awesome imo. If wanting wired the m20x does no wrong. Neither are super bassy or anything tho

    Noise Canceling Headphones

Shure 215 isolate really well, you get tons of ear tips, removable cables, and very good comfort. As a total package for $99 it's hard to beat

$400 to spend on a DAP and headphones

Headphone opinions are gonna differ a lot on here, and there are headphones around the same price as the m50x that are probably better I personally enjoy the CAL! and Momentums more, but honestly the m50x is a good headphone and is much MUCH better than that monoprice that I hated with a passion.

Need recommendations for most neutral/accurate yet musical and enjoyable IEM in sub $1,000 range (going over is okay if it's really worth it)

I too am on the lookout for a neutral iem, currently happy with my eq'd hd650 and NAD Viso hp50 for full size but iems are a completely different story. I thought the new pinnacle p1 might be a contender but preliminary impressions have used the magic word: "bright" which has me staying far away...
