Portable DAC recommendations that work with Chromebooks.

Hi all   I have a Google Chromebook Pixel and iPad Mini and use the SONY MDR-1A Headphones. I have up to £900 to spend on a portable DAC/Amp. It has to be standard USB Audio and require no proprietary drivers. Any recommendations please? I am considering the SONY PHA-3 but not sure if it will...

Hi all   I use a Google Chromebook Pixel or an iPad Mini 2 paired with the SONY MDR-1A Headphones. I stream music from Tidal. Will the SONY PHA-3 be enough to pair with the MDR-1A'a and also, will it work with the Chromebook Pixel?

Bought a pair of these yesterday. I'm very impressed with sound quality, I just wish the silver ones were in stock.

    SONY NW-F887

Hi all   I live in the UK and want to import the SONY NW-F887 HiRes Audio Player from Japan.   Currently I own a pair of SONY MDR-R1 Headphones, will those be enough to pair with the player or will I need an amp as well?   Sorry if I sound dense.   Thanks

    My budget is £1,700

Quote: Hi, thanks for the reply. I'm not bothered if the gear becomes outdated and has no value in years to come, when that time arrives or before then, I will buy something new. I want to know if the tech is as good as it claims to be and will it produce good enough sound quality or is...

    My budget is £1,700

Hey all   I have a budget of £1,700. I would like to buy a portable set-up and after a bit of research, I am considering the Astell & Kern AK120 paired with the Sennheiser IE 800's. Does anyone here have this same set up or have you tried it and what did you think? Do you have any better...

Hello all you lovely helpful people.   I'm considering buying the Astell & Kern AK120 and was wondering what headphones will work best with this device? Sennheiser HD800's or Grado PS1000's or other?   Thanks.

Headphones suitable for Sony A845 with sound limiter.

Quote:   I guess it is suitable for your needs. It was too quiet for me, my hearing is poor at the best of times so it had to go quite loud. I wish it didn't have the cap otherwise I would of kept it.   Did you read the thread over at AVForums?

Headphones suitable for Sony A845 with sound limiter.

I sold my Sony A845 for the same reason - the volume cap. Now got a Cowon S9 with no restrictions and better sound quality. If you can, sell it on eBay and go for a Cowon!

    Sennheiser IE8

Quote: Hi BNHabs   I too was worried about the authenticity of my IE8's.   I sent Senhheiser an email with my serial number and the dealer I purchased them from.   They replied to me and confirmed the dealer was authorized and they told me that the serial number was on there...

    Cowon S9 + Sennheiser IE8 = bliss

My music collection is quite small at the moment. I have 14 albums in FLAC @ 9GB   I've tried 320kbps and I can hear the difference. FLAC is the way forward!

    Cowon S9 + Sennheiser IE8 = bliss

Quote: Hey Danz03   Music is very easy to transfer. I drag and drop music onto the player but I am aware that you can also use WMP. It does come with software that is able to convert music/videos and it also has a media player built-in. The sound quality from the S9 is really...

    Cowon S9 + Sennheiser IE8 = bliss

Hi budgetboy   I recently got the S9 and a few days ago I got the IE8's. It is an amazing combination! It's the best my music has ever sounded! I too store my music in FLAC format and I have too say, I've heard details that weren't audible before.

    Are my Sennheiser IE8's real?

I've just been sent a really helpful set of comparison photo's by dweaver. It has put my mind at rest. I'm 95% certain that mine are real. All I need now is confirmation from Sennheiser and then I will be fully satisfied.   Thanks for all the replies and opinions, I really appreciate it.
