by your avatar, you look like someone that might like the shure srh-440's [because they are better than the 840's on portable devices]. from your description, they might actually be what you're looking for. also, i heard the ath-m50's are comparable but with their own unique qualities. good luck...

im interested in getting some cheapo skulcandy's as a shell for my portapro's. i think they sound much better closed for some reason; replacing/removing the driver is easy enough.

i was watching a movie and they cut to a scene where it's a montage of radio stations rallying some kind of cause, i was intently trying to identify the headphones used. i noticed a lot of mdr-v6.

i suggest the shure srh440. they are a great competitor at around the same price range or lower and have replaceable cables >_>

a quick bit of research shows me you might want to get a bt transmitter for your tv, then you would just pick up some bt headphones or adapters and enjoy! personally, i use the sonorix c3 as a bt adapter and switch out whatever headphone i like. a number of solutions with transmitter/receiver...

this mod was applied to my 440's pads: got the socks today. bought 2 pair actually in case i messed up... good call. i used a fat usb cable to hold it down over the sock ends inside and cut the cable slightly longer than necessary so i could double over the bottom portion for a better seal...

i might have to do this for my 440's. anyone have experience with 840 pads on the 440s? i would like to hear more comments before i go and get the pads; so far it's no.... and this mod would fix my issue with earpad comfort. dollar store here i come.

shure srh 440, 44 ohms and can be like speakers for my clip+ at full volume.
