    V-Moda / M-100 NON Fanboy feedback

Where is this mysterious pair of headphones?  Will it beat the new iPhone to market?

So, what's the latest?  Last I heard was Aug 08...is that still the day?

    V-Moda / M-100 NON Fanboy feedback

Quote:   Other than the initial press release, I haven't read much about the new Denon lineup due to the pricing.  Whether you go D600 or D6000, you're still dropping 5 bills.  Now that I think about it, that's probably the only reason I'm interested in the M-100's.  If the $300 dollar...

Quote:   I agree with you.  My comment sounded a lot harsher than it was meant to be.  I think the M-80's sound pretty good and are great to take on the road.  I just won't make the mistake of using them at home when I have the D2000's available.  I happen to prefer the Denon sound...

    V-Moda / M-100 NON Fanboy feedback

I was humming along enjoying my M-80's for the past week and made a big mistake by switching to the D2000's.  Now I don't want to put the M-80's back on my head - ever.  There's no question the M-80's lack clarity.  So that has become my #1 concern with the M-100's.  If they don't clean up the...

    V-Moda / M-100 NON Fanboy feedback

Quote:   I started this thread in attempt of getting honest reviews and opinions of the M-100's when they hit the street.  If anything, I'm a borderline Denon fanboy myself, I have or had both D2000 & D7000.  Did you really think the V-Moda fanboy could truly resist this thread? ...

    V-Moda / M-100 NON Fanboy feedback

So, what's the latest status on the M-100's?  I won't dare enter that other thread.  Last I heard was 1st week in Aug for production units, is that still the case?

Quote:   I agree with you 100%.  That's exactly how I feel.  I'm hoping that's exactly what they're targeting with the M-100's.  In comparison to the M-80's, the addition of 3db or 5 db bass is negligible compared to the significant impact that some clarity and detail would bring to the...

    V-Moda / M-100 NON Fanboy feedback

Quote:   Great news.  I much prefer over the ear vs. on the ear, so with a minimalist design included, the portability factor should be covered.  And along with high quality and clear sound and the right (crowd pleasing) frequency dynamics, these will be a winner and definitely worth...

Quote:   I love the Dxxx line and also wish there was similar sounding headphones in a portable package.  If the M-100's have a similar sound sig I'd be very happy.  However, because I got disgusted pretty quickly in that other thread and didn't really get to read much, I have no idea...

Quote:   Again, we're definitely on the same page.  Good Call on the Pro 900's.  I'd also throw in the K550's.  I haven't heard the AKG's myself, but from what I've read, they sound great...and if you pump up and punch out more bass, they might also hit the mark (?)  Each of the 3...

    V-Moda / M-100 NON Fanboy feedback

Quote:   I agree with you for the most part.  I paid $150 for my M-80's, and I think that's a fair price for what they deliver.  Will the M-100's deliver $300 dollar sound?   Is there something that truly justifies the $100 price increase above the LP/2's?   I'm very happy with my D2000's...

    V-Moda / M-100 NON Fanboy feedback

It's gonna be tough to live up to the expectations that have been set for the M-100, and because of that, I'm afraid they will get unfair praise, which is exactly why I started this thread...hoping to get unbiased and honest reviews.  With people all excited about which color they're gonna get...

    V-Moda / M-100 NON Fanboy feedback

Quote:   For me, the M-80's roll off just a little too quickly.  On one hand, I like the fact that they're non-fatiguing, but on the other, I really miss that detail.  I don't listen to EDM, DNB, or the like, so bass quantity and rumble doesn't really factor in to my decision.  I do love...

    V-Moda / M-100 NON Fanboy feedback

Quote: I'm right there with you.  Maybe I just did a poor job of explaining myself - I don't think the M-80's have too much bass, maybe bloat was the wrong choice of words, they just lack sharpness and detail in my opinion.  I'm not an audiophile, I'm a musician, and as musicians go...we...

    V-Moda / M-100 NON Fanboy feedback

Interesting.  I don't know all the audiophile terms, but from where I sit, you seem to be talking about texture. What you're saying makes sense to me.  The feel of the bass - extending into the mids - is exactly what I don't like.  So, generally speaking, if this (midbass) is the footprint of...

    V-Moda / M-100 NON Fanboy feedback

Okay.  To my ears between the D2000 and M80 - Denons are tight, detailed and controlled - the M-80's quite the opposite.  So with the price tag of the M-100's being $300, can we expect the M-100's to rival the Denons in quality?  I should hope so.  Maybe with better quality (refined/controlled)...

You really can't make that determination without specifying what type of music you're playing and how the rest of the band is tuned.        I have a pair of D2000's which to me are perfect - bass when you need it - not when you don't.  I'd be curious to know how these measure.  If they have...

    V-Moda / M-100 NON Fanboy feedback

Thanks for sharing.  If the M-100's come out with bass quantity like the Q40's, (IMHO) V-Moda would have made a huge mistake.  I had owned a pair of Q40's for a few days before returning them.  They're great for a very small market segment, but I don't believe the M-100's were designed as niche...

    V-Moda / M-100 NON Fanboy feedback

Quote:   Based on what you're saying, if it's true that the M-100's will have a bass boost of 8 to 9 db, then they would be considered basshead headphones.  I've never heard anyone speak of the M-100's as basshead headphones.  So I can't really grasp what you're trying to say. ...

    V-Moda / M-100 NON Fanboy feedback

I think it all depends on where you're coming from.  I have a pair of D7000's....and in no way would i ever unfairly compare the two, but just to emphasize a specific point....if you regularly listen to tight-controlled-punchy-accurate bass, everything else pales in comparison.  I guess it also...

Really?  I think that would be a big mistake.  I love bass, don't get me wrong, but I think the M-80's are already pushing the envelope.  Today I was playing around with the preset EQ settings in my Ipod and was actually quite shocked at how much (natural) bass is present.  Forget about Treble...

As the launch of the new M-100's draws near, I'm wondering if there are any level-headed and unbiased people out here like myself who are moderately interested in these headphones?   The main thread seems to have lost most of its sanity and credibility.  As soon as the name Steve Jobs popped up...
