If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...

Thanks for the review @briank996 I have the KZ Apt-X Bluetooth 5.0 cable The sound quality is great. There's no hissing with my ER4XR The connection is not secure because the keyed MMCX connector from Etymotic. There's an offset on the Etymotic side of the connector that prevents it from...

Are there any preset EQ settings to convert the Etymotic ER4SR and/or ER4XR to the Harman curve?

I've noticed this using certain third party eartips. The difference is subtle, but I feel like the ultra transparent instrument separation and imaging isn't as lucid. Music becomes fatiguing. I find myself not listening to music over long stretches of time. After I switched back to the stock...

Isn't a volume knob just a series impedance? That means it adjusts the amplitude of the signal across all frequencies equally. Then simply turning up the volume would compensate for any additional impedance.

Ever receive a faulty MMCX connector?

Bought a set of cables on aliexpress. One side is fine, the other side is unattachable. I pressed really really hard and it won't snap in. Visually to the unaided eye, both sides look identical. Ever have a faulty MMCX connector?

Those adapters aren't any more durable than the cables you're replacing in my experience. That's my experience with the adapter made by the seller awwan. I bought them hoping I could use the much cheaper MMCX cables which would be less costly to replace when they get worn out but I found the...

I had a chance to demo these. They sound every bit as transparent and clear as the Etymotic but there was this really lush midrange that felt expansive and had great separation and imaging. It made me hear so many new sounds in music that I didn't notice previously. The Dita Answer Truth...

I had many pairs of IEMs over the years and the Etys are the ones I want to sleep with. They have the best isolation. They also sound the most transparent. Music sounds like noise unless it sounds perfectly holographic like I'm sonically teleported into that ambient world in my music.

Does anyone have recommendations for an ER4SR/XR cable that's suitable for sleeping on with my face on the pillow? I've broken countless ER4 cables over the years from doing this. It always frays at the 45 degree angle joints connecting to the driver unit. I've tried the MMCX adapter for ER4P...

Get an endoscope earpick. They're dirt cheap now <$20 USD on amazon/ebay/aliexpress. You'll clean out your ears perfectly super easily when you can get a clear view inside to do precision targeted scooping.

Before I got into the audiophile world, I thought good audio equipment simply consisted of good bass and clear highs with minimal distortion. I thought my $80 pair of Sennheiser headphones was about the best there is for audio and spending more would simply be subject to the law of diminishing...

    VSONIC GR07 Impressions Thread

I found your post where you mentioned it. I didn't read through this thread before making my purchase. I just read that the GR07AE was an improvement over the GR07. One of the things that distinguishes audiophile grade sound equipment and regular sound equipment is the imaging and soundstage...

Looks like some great options! Not nearly as cheap as the MMCX cables, but there is the added resistor to contribute to the cost.

What's the cheapest replacement option for a frayed ER4P/S cable? Etymotic charges $50 + $9 shipping Cheapest one I see on ebay is $48 Alternative option is to buy the MMCX rehousing or adapter for $10 and a cheap MMCX cable for $10. Could I just use the P to S cable and use it at 73Ohms?

    VSONIC GR07 Impressions Thread

I just got my GR07 37th anniversary edition after hearing about how detailed and clear they sound. The instrument separation on them is much worse than my 1more Triple Driver, Etymotic ER4 and Hifiman HE400i. The muddy instrument separation makes these earphone sound like budget earphones...

Review: 1MORE Triple Driver In-Ear Headphone with In-line Microphone and Remote

Sennheiser IE8 is known to be a king of that V shaped sound. I went to a shop and demo'ed a bunch of models and I found The Answer, Truth Edition to have a phenomenal lush bass/midrange while being very detailed. It had remarkable separation and imaging. Edit: In hindsight after writing this...

Review: 1MORE Triple Driver In-Ear Headphone with In-line Microphone and Remote

I think the dual BA drivers are still very high fidelity. It's just the loose bass that's masking the details. They sound phenomenal with a bit of EQ.

Poll: What computer audio device do you use and do you get interference?

Well, I'm literally the only person out of 11 people here that has an issue with it, and with multiple combinations of devices.

Poll: What computer audio device do you use and do you get interference?

Hmmm, this poll suggests that I'm insanely unlucky. I've had two USB DACs on a desktop and two different laptops and I had noise in every configuration, even with battery power.

Poll: What computer audio device do you use and do you get interference?

Jaysus choist, $1000 for a USB to SPDIF transport. http://www.audiophilleo.com/Audiophilleo2 Anyways, I had a lot of issues with interference with my USB DAC that I couldn't get rid of with USB hubs, USB isolators. I ended up buying a DAC that takes optical SPDIF. Works like a charm. :)

Poll: What computer audio device do you use and do you get interference?

There has been much discussion about internal soundcards having interference, as well as people with USB DACs with interference. Hopefully, a poll can shed some light on which one is more prevalent with interference!

USB DAC doesn't work with powered USB hub?

Hmmm, the USB2.0 hub plugged into the USB3.0 hub allows for the USB DAC to be detected. The USB 3.0 hub is much better at clearing the ground loop noise. But I get crackling and popping issues during music playback.
