The new Pharrell album, G I R L, sounds fantastic! Love it! Will definitely be part of my meet test disk. The man is single-handedly rescuing pop music from the abyss.- Cheerwino

Nice room! Who thinks they might stay that Friday night before the meet? Scotch and bourbon the eve before could be fun.- Cheerwino

Charlotte, NC Meet: April 19th 2014
JWahl, you're the organizer, so it's not selfish to change for your schedule. I appreciate all your work on making this meet a reality! April 11 or 19 weekends would be fine with me. I would LOVE to have MrSpeakers and/or Moon Audio there! Also I haven't been there and don't know the store...- Cheerwino

Doodlebug - USB Isolator
Tomb, I got no skills to build one but I do have an ODAC and would love to try it out, if you are looking for more guinea pigs. I have been looking for a USB isolator and was rather confused by the options (or lack of). BTW, I'm just up I-85 from you in Greenville, SC. PM me if I can be of...- Cheerwino

Closed, small-ish portables under $200
This is waaay below your price range but I posted in the Deals section about the Philips Downtown closed, on-ear memory foam cans for around $30 in grey (MSRP around $100). I think they are clearing them out ahead of a style change. Amazon...- Cheerwino

The Deals DISCUSSION Thread (READ THE FIRST POST!!!)
Amazon has the Philips Downtown on-ear, memory foam cushioned phones for around $30 in grey (price fluctuates). Grey color is cheapest. Brown or purple cost more. IMO, not worth the $100 MSRP but a deal around $30. Reminds me of the old Sen 414 or a chubby PX100 ...- Cheerwino

Thanks MattTCG! Are you in Augusta or Atlanta area? I'm in Greenville, SC. Terry is who I was planning on. I haven't used him before but it's close enough I can drive up and drop it off. I had a 9090db at one point but didn't think I could justify it just for headphones (wish I had it...- Cheerwino

Reveel headphone amp to recreate the authentic live sound
Thanks AudioNirvana. I wonder if there's a simple mod, like cutting a resistor (ala O2 Objective) that would disable the gain.- Cheerwino

Yes! If you are willing to do the heavy lifting, please bring your big Pioneer! Who did your restoration, if I may ask? I need work on my Marantz 2275.- Cheerwino

Reveel headphone amp to recreate the authentic live sound
Okay, thank for the clarification. That seems to limit any audiophile interest in this iteration of their technology. Perhaps there will be other versions.- Cheerwino

Reveel headphone amp to recreate the authentic live sound
I'm sorry but I'm confused about the switch situation. What does the "bypass" setting bypass? Is bypass just a pass through signal with neither the Reveel effect nor the headphone amp engaged? Or is bypass just bypassing the Reveel's headphone amp? I'm wondering if you can use just the...- Cheerwino

Need Help to choose closed headphones for my wife.
If she liked the P5 then the P7 may be a better bet. I'm having a bit of buyer's remorse as I find the NAD an odd fit (not clampy enough). It's a flat, clean sound, so I see why it's appealing to the audiophile crowd. It's not quite as "fun" as I like and the build quality is more hi-tech/clever...- Cheerwino

Wow, that's quite a deal! When I saw you were in Australia I thought at first it was just down-under Amazon deal but it's US! Hmmm.... Philips seems to have several deals going on Amazon. I just ordered some Philips CitiScape Downtown for $30 for the kid after hearing another Headfier's...- Cheerwino

Need Help to choose closed headphones for my wife.
Hey, I just meant be sure she can return whatever you get in case she has fit problems, which I think is a possibility with the Momentum or NAD (not that they are not great phones). If it was a gift for my wife, I would go with the B&W P7 since it is the most luxurious and impressive on your...- Cheerwino

Need Help to choose closed headphones for my wife.
I love my Mad Dogs but they need a good head amp, IMO. I have the NAD -- it's a very clear, smooth sound and works amazingly well with iDevices and laptop. However, I'm not crazy about the fit on my narrow head. My ears fit in the cups but it doesn't clamp enough to make a good seal on my head...- Cheerwino

Wondering if anyone has bought this yet and what they thought. Sounds like some kind of phase correction device. I've been using bourbon for that purpose.- Cheerwino

Need Advice...Closed headphones for max $150
As long as you have amplification, my favorite under $150 that I've owned would be a used or refurbished pair of Beyerdynamic dt770 pro 80 ohm. They're over your price limit new but would be less than $150 used here in the classifieds section or on eBay. Not sure if used is of interest to you...- Cheerwino
