Clip+ repair of jack and volume control and replacing battery

I had 3 Sansa Clip+ players already. 1st passed out on the 2nd month, just would not turn on. Got it replaced. The 2nd's mini-jack socket failed after over a year of everyday use - loose bottom connection (right channel). Soldered it back to the motherboard, but I guess I touched another small...

Two IEMs failed - could that be notebook's fault?

NA Blur, you were right. A couple of days ago the sound disappeared in the right side of HF2's (1st time it was the left). Sound returned after I took a filter out (later replaced by a new one). I think the reason why filters got clogged so fast is that I've cut off the smallest flanges of HF2's...

Two IEMs failed - could that be notebook's fault?

Thanks for reply, NA Blur, the notebook's jack is fine, always sounds balanced on both sides with any headphones/earphones I have (~10). Yes, of-course I tried the IEMs with other sources after the left side muted - same thing, almost no sound in the left channel. Volume - I use to listen...

Two IEMs failed - could that be notebook's fault?

I've got a 3 yrs old Lenovo G530 laptop, Windows Vista. Sound is ugly and noisy, especially with IEMs, which are more sensitive. I had been using several a couple of DACs before, but since I got rid of FiiO E7 and sent FiiO E10 back to the seller due to the socket issue, I had no DACs left for...

E10, new USB DAC ( updated with photos of real E10 )

Dear feiao, good to hear that you are going to change the headphone socket in the future. This is not just about earphones with MICs. Have you watched the video I posted recently? Quite a few people (including myself) complained about the noisy socket, losing connection, sound only in one ear...

E10, new USB DAC ( updated with photos of real E10 )

My new FiiO E10 has a noisy headphone socket. Sometimes I'm afraid to breathe or turn my head, because every slightest movement makes noise or the sound just disappears. Tried different headphones and earphones. Even all they are standard 3.5mm jacks, scale of the symptoms vary. On the video...

E10, new USB DAC ( updated with photos of real E10 )

A lot of letters, but might be  a good point. On a practical side - I've set 70% volume on computer and ~2.5 on E10, then 30% on computer and ~6 on E10. My ears/brain did notice any difference in sound quality compared to 100% volume on computer and ~2 on E10. I mean any of these settings sound...

E10, new USB DAC ( updated with photos of real E10 )

I'm pretty sure you are wrong about 100%, chicolom. Sound volume set to max is important when sending analog signal, say from a PC headphone plug or MP3 player to an amp. FiiO E10 is a DAC (Digital Audio Converter) and an amplifier in one piece. Computer sends a DIGITAL signal (zeros and ones)...

The difference between HD25-1 II and HD25-SP II is that the second has "a simpler headband and a slightly different capsule design". HD25-1 II has a double headband, very easy to see the difference between the two models. Quote:

    Custom Sleek-Audio Earphone Plugs

Sleek-Audio earphone plugs share the same type and size connector as charger plugs for recent Nokia mobile phones. Here's how I made a cable for my SA6 earphones: 1. I bought two cheap Nokia CA-44 compatible power adapter cables, and extracted the barrel connectors, which turned out to be...

Cable Stiff After 2 Months - How To Make It Flexible Again?

I enjoyed how flexible the cable of my new SA6 IEMs was, but after 2 months of usage it became very stiff. In some parts it is still possible to bend it almost like before, in others it's hard and cable stays in the bent shape (memory effect). Seems like not much time left till it begins...
