I found the triple-fi 10s to be rather sibilant as well in comparison to my SE530s.  I had them reshelled into a custom mold and they improved greatly however.

All of the ipod EQ settings are complete garbage; they distort so horribly that the damn thing becomes unlistenable. Leave the EQ off.

Get the velour pads. They're about 100x more comfortable on the ear.
