What part of the signal chain makes the most difference?
If the initial source is not good anything "downstream" just gets worse.- Hardhead

Red Clous
I find the red Clou cable not only stiff but very heavy. I'm very aware of the cable - something that didn't happen with the stock cable although the stock cable sometimes ended up under my desk chair wheels something that hasn't happened to the Clou. Haven't switched back to the stock cable... -
Poll: MG head OTL & Vinyl , what phone stage preamp you using?
Quote: I am an old fart, so I am used to hiss and clicks and pops... I'm there with you Fred. While an occasional pop or click is acceptable, if the record is really bad I find that I can simply not listen to it. Can you say skeet shoot? Vinyl can sound more dramatic, more live...- Hardhead

Has anyone build DIY HD 600 cable?
Quote: their japis cable is silver plated 99.97% pure copper which is quite low by current cable standards. For exmple, Kimber PBJ cable is 99.9997% pure. "Quite low????" Get real. Use the search function and you will find your answer. The simple answer is that the proprietary ends...- Hardhead

Really Dumb Newbie Question... Are Headphone cables Interconnects or Speaker cables?
Check the HeadRoom website http://www.headphone.com/layout.php?...&subTopicID=31 as they sell the Clou replacement cables for the Senn 600. If you run a search on Clou you will be able to read various opinions on both the blue and red Jaspis cable replacements. I'm waiting for both to arrive... -

MG Head OTL
I called Divergent today and mine is on the way. I don't think the Head OTL has a feedback circuit.- Hardhead

Head or Can, Sweetest Highs?
As mentioned in my post about the Chicago HeadRoom meet, I was most impressed with the Wheatfield HA-2 and the HeadRoom BlockHead driving the balanced Senn 600s with the Clou red cable. I'm not exactly sure what "tubey" sounds like but the BlockHead was very fast, very detailed with an immediate...- Hardhead

Looking for new CD Player
I would suggest checking here: www.danielsaudio.com/basic_info_cd.htm He takes a basic Phillips player and extensively modifies it. I have one and listened to several players costing more than twice as much and preferred the Daniels Audio version. You get a 30 day money back guarantee.- Hardhead

(HD580 + Blue Clou) > HD600 ?
"Better" is subjective of course and the law of diminishing returns usually applies. In my opinion as one gets better equipment your ability to hear improvements in sound increases. The real key is listening to live music and comparing it to your home system. I listen to a lot of jazz and...- Hardhead
