    Rollover Ads

It's a new record! That is three rollover ads on one page!   I don't mind ads. But I do mind these rollover ads that play music or videos, and hijack my browser page. And it gets a little frustrating when they basically turn a website I generally enjoy into an advertising minefield.

DIY Cable Questions and Comments Thread

Quote:   Hm, you may try the Vintage Audio Labs 3.5mm plug. I have some of their banana plugs and XLR plugs, and they are seriously nice pieces of hardware, excellent fit and finish. Think they can be had for about $10 shipped worldwide.

    DIY Cable Gallery!!

Your mileage may vary, I loathe adhesive-lined heatshrink so hard. Made my first cables with some, and never again.

Hm, 1/4" paracord is probably getting into Type IV territory, but I think that measures closer to 3/16". For more than that, you may have to find an alternative to paracord.   If Type IV does work, you'll probably be a little limited in colours, as it's nowhere near as widely used as Type...

My favorite artist of all time - you have not heard music until you've listened to Zack Hemsey.

I've been a fan of his instrumental stuff for a while now. Not at all a fan of his vocals when he decides to throw some 'rap' into things. But, I do quite enjoy his instrumental music.

Type I paracord is likely fine for the individual conductors, but it's definitely too small of a diameter for the full cable.

Mmkay, so as long as I steer clear of a sinnet or something with a tight weave, I should be okay.

Does anyone have any experience with the Nucleotide offered by Double Helix (specifically the Teflon-coated, not the polyethylene)? Looks like fantastic stuff, and I realize it's going to be a little stiffer, but how stiff are we talking (for purposed of braiding)? Does it easily transmit noise...

LCD-2 with PanAm: Do People Use the PanAm's Built-In DAC or Purchase a Separate DAC?

For $500, the Pan Am's going to be tough to beat, especially as a DAC/Amp combo. However, if your budget can take it, there are definitely other competent (arguably better) options for both amp and DAC.   Your sig says you have a Lyr; this is one of those amps that tends to pair very nicely...

It actually does help. A couple of the ones you put forward, I'd either discounted due to cost (Homegrown), location/shipping (Toxic), or inconsistency (navships). But it's good to hear I'm on the right track, for the most part. I'm pretty much on the same page with the looks of the...

    DIY Cable Gallery!!

After trucking through about 90% of the posts in this thread (oof), I've decided to get into some DIY shenanigans. So, I've started shopping around for soldering gear and the bits for an Audeze recable. I'm pretty certain what I want to with regard to my connectors, but I thought I'd get some...

    Can I change a 4 pin to a 3 pin XLR?

A lot of the adaptors tend to be DIY (I've not come across any that aren't). It should be relatively simple to change 4pin to 3pin, just ensure your right and left signals and grounds are going to the right place (and I'm thinking that you'll be bridging two of the pins on each of the 3pin...

    May 5th - Vancouver, BC Meet 2013

Quote:   That depends... are your stands the ROOMs? :)     I'm bummed I had to miss this one, but it was either nip over for this or nip over to visit my brother. I'll see if I can make the fall meet, though.

Why do HD800 headphones sounded weak when hook up to an iPod

Quote: Okay...because I'm a nice guy. Think of it as a steam-powered car (the Shures) facing off against a rocket ship (HD800).  If you use coal (an iPod), then your steam-powered car is going to kick the ass of the rocket ship. Every time. The Shures might be fine with the juice they're...
