  Awesome thanks. After a bit of double checking yes they are compatible with the HD700 which opens up a lot more options. 

I like to fall asleep wearing  me he400s and seem to have sheared through the cable somehow. Anyone know where I can find a affordable pair of replacement cables? The ones on the HiFiMan site are nearly 1/3 the price of the cans new. 

I have both the D5Ks and IE7s.   The IE7s have very similar bass to the Denons, just a little deeper and more refined. However, the highs are much more laid back. Also they have a good sound stage but not huge. But if you like Denon bass the IE7's bass is very similar.   Quote:

Not sure how long you have burnt them in but I found my D5Ks had way to much sibilance until after 2-3 weeks of burn in. The main thing burn in did for me was tighten the bass and smooth the highs. You describe the D5Ks how I perceived them before they settled in. Maybe if you haven't burnt them...

I disagree. My D5000 are 32 ohms and an amp results in a noticeable improvement over any unamped source I've tried. You can have low resistance and still need a ton of current.    Quote:

The E9 is not a portable amp. I assume you mean the E7 with is a AMP/DAC combo. If you are going to use it only as an amp then o the E7 isn't the best budget choice, there are many portable amp for a similar or even lower price with more power that are just as transparent.    Anyways the M50...
