    NEW 2015 - HIFIMAN HE400S

Awesome thanks. After a bit of double checking yes they are compatible with the HD700 which opens up a lot more options.

    NEW 2015 - HIFIMAN HE400S

I like to fall asleep wearing  me he400s and seem to have sheared through the cable somehow. Anyone know where I can find a affordable pair of replacement cables? The ones on the HiFiMan site are nearly 1/3 the price of the cans new.

    Looking for IEMs

I have both the D5Ks and IE7s.   The IE7s have very similar bass to the Denons, just a little deeper and more refined. However, the highs are much more laid back. Also they have a good sound stage but not huge. But if you like Denon bass the IE7's bass is very similar.   Quote:

Denon AH-D5000 or Klipsch Image ONE On-Ear Earphones? Help a newbie please!

OMG it took me 2/3 months to save up for my D5Ks, and you decide to just up and buy the D7Ks and Klisch Image Ones. I can't wait to graduate college and have tons of money to spend too .      Quote:

    HD595 terrible headphones

The HD595 actually need a good bit of power not to sound like crap. I tried them strait from my friends linux box and they did sound worse than anything I had ever tried. After buying the E7 I tried them again this time time ZuneHD->Fiio E7->HD595 and they were actually were enjoyable though I'm...

Denon d5000s sound atrociously bad. Is my sound card (auzentech x-meridian) the weak link?

Not sure how long you have burnt them in but I found my D5Ks had way to much sibilance until after 2-3 weeks of burn in. The main thing burn in did for me was tighten the bass and smooth the highs. You describe the D5Ks how I perceived them before they settled in. Maybe if you haven't burnt them...

    Accidentally broke my D5Ks

So I accidently rolled over the cable of my Dennons at work and when I went to stand up the screw that connects the left can to the head band broke. There still in warranty so I can send them in. Problem is that takes 2 weeks or so. Is there anywhere I can just buy the screw? The drivers are...

Good fullsized closed headphones for under $200

I disagree. My D5000 are 32 ohms and an amp results in a noticeable improvement over any unamped source I've tried. You can have low resistance and still need a ton of current.    Quote:

Good fullsized closed headphones for under $200

My experience with IEMs is they break easily, don't sound as good for the price, and have no soundstage. Plus IEM bass <<< Full sized cans bass << A real sub.

    Headphone Sightings 2

At work there are people with the HD202, HD555, HD595,  HD600, and D5Ks. The D5K guy not being me.    On campus I've seen a few Beats, Sony XB500, and the Skullcandy Aviators. The aviators actually sound pretty damn good. I might get a pair.   Edit: Boss has MDR-SA1000s.

    250 Ohm Impedance

The phones you're looking at can handle 100 mW on input power. The Fiio E5 is only going to give it about 20mW, not enough to sufficiently power the DT990, while the E9 gives you 80mW at 600 ohms of resistance. So the E9 might actually be slightly more power than your cans can make use of but...

    Amp for M50

The E9 is not a portable amp. I assume you mean the E7 with is a AMP/DAC combo. If you are going to use it only as an amp then o the E7 isn't the best budget choice, there are many portable amp for a similar or even lower price with more power that are just as transparent.    Anyways the M50...

    Sony MDR xb1000? NEw? OMG

Interesting. I've been looking for something to carry to class (D5Ks stay locked in my room at all times) since my parents annexed my M50s. I wonder how the mids and highs are?

Beats Studio by Dr. Dre vs. Sennheiser HD-280 Pro

I used to strongly dislike the 280's however after retrying them with my E9 I enjoyed them, and I've discovered they are actually pretty hard to drive. Without proper amping they do sound horrible so you need something at least as string as a E7.   Quote:

    Mid-Fi Battle: AH-D2000 / HD-650 / DT-880 / XB-700

Point being there needs to be a huge red disclaimer saying that none of the stuff is properly driven. Instad of claiming that he's got a $50 amp that is equivilent to all your silly elitists $200+ amps.   Quote:

    Denon AH-D7000

Buy an E7 and use it as a pre amp. I do it every once in while with my D5Ks, just set the bass boost to 3 and it almost feels like a sub is in the room.   Quote:

What cans did you own when you had the Corda, same as in the review? Anyways my problem is that having an underpowered amp skew may the results against high impedance phones, or more accurately penalize the HD-650 against its lower impedance opponents.      Quote:
