I saw my first Justin Bieber Beats today. Some guy in my college Digital Audio & Sound Design class had them. It confused me greatly as to why someone of that age would choose those over the standard Beats.

0-o?!? yeah...that's a bit strange, maybe his sibiling bought him a pair for christmas

For the past week I've seen:

1 M50
few portapro
about 10s of HD201 < is there something I'm missing? Are senn becoming more mainstream now?

no...because everybody wants full sized phones because they've suddenly become stylish due to the monster phones/skullcandies and 201's go for about $12-15 so they're very cheap

I guess it makes sense, since newegg has pretty much been putting them on sale for almost two months now.

they aren't good headphones by any means, well, at least unamped. IMHO, they really need amplification to sound there best and to reach a good listening volume and it's obvious the saps who buy them just for looks aren't amping them. 80-85% of the volume from a portable player is not a good sign

A classmate was sporting a pair of UR-40's today. Gave them a go through my iPod Classic + E7 -combo. All I heard was BASS BASS BASS. Jesus Koss, there are also mid and high frequencies..

Saw some sort of Bose OEs... probably Triports... on campus during a passing period. Waste of money >.>

Meanwhile, my K518LEs should be arriving on Thursday, and I can't wait to burn them in and wear them :D

Saw a pair of what appeared to be DT770s at first, but turned out to be some cruddy knockoffs made by something like "dreamtech" or something... sounds ultra generic...

Sony MDR-570LP are EVERYWHERE in my town all of a sudden. I can't leave the house without seeing a pair. Why are these headphones so popular all of a sudden? They don't look that great and they certainly don't sound great either.

Because they're everywhere... the other sheeple need to join in.

Mike of Headfonia actually liked them.

I admit they look pretty clean and stylish.

At work there are people with the HD202, HD555, HD595,  HD600, and D5Ks. The D5K guy not being me.

On campus I've seen a few Beats, Sony XB500, and the Skullcandy Aviators. The aviators actually sound pretty damn good. I might get a pair.

Edit: Boss has MDR-SA1000s.

I listened to them in a local electronics store and honestly found them very underwhelming. There was little to like about their sound, it was just congested and distorted. Maybe I just didn't listen to them for long enough, I dunno.
