Liquid Platinum (now less than $500!) and ZMF (ampsandsound) Pendant should be on this list.
I just received the Pendant a few weeks ago and have not missed a single night of listening with the VO and Empy's!

Please suggest some good tube amps for verite

Should be neutral

Low to medium budget

I have found that my Woo Audio WA6SE 1st Generation tube amp is superb with the Verite Closed (the amp using 6FD7s and a Brimar 5Z4GY rectifier). I think the current WA6SE 2nd Generation should be just as good, using 13FD7s and the same rectifier tube. Cost is $1299 plus purchase of the replacement tubes. Compared to the ZMF Pendant, this amp has the advantages of being a lot cheaper, and the WA6SE is direct coupled rather than having the input and output stages connected through a capacitor as in the Pendant. However, I haven't been able to make the actual comparison. Other factors might make the Pendant better, since amp design factors and tube choices and transformers, etc. etc. make things complicated.

Definitely check out the Echo and the Mjolnir 2. Both incredible tube amps with different flavors/features. While I don't have Verite in yet, I've used both extensively with Auteur.

I'm looking for my first tube amp to pair with my new Vérité and the Echo, Liquid Platinum, Valhalla and Mjolnir 2 are on my short list. Any thoughts from those that own these amps? I do like things more on the warm side, and do like good bass when it's present. Thanks.

I have both the LP and Pendant. The LP, at the new price, is hard to beat and is a bit on the warm side depending on what tubes you are using.

Buy a pair of Tube Monger adapters and you can use 12AU7's version as well as 6DJ8, 6922, 7308. It was a good tube hybrid amp at $7-800, now it is a steal!

I can only comment on the Echo and the Mjolnir 2 as those are the only ones I've owned. Also, opinions are coming from pairing with Auteur and other headphones since my Verites haven't arrived yet.

The Echo definitely has more of that "traditional" tube sound. Smoother treble, nice staging, added sweetness, hint of bloom in the bass, etc. It's a great listen. One of those amps where you get throw on your favorite playlist and just kick back and relax.

The Mjolnir 2 (Telefunken ECC88 tubes, don't remember the stock ones other than they weren't that great) on the other hand demands your attention. It's more extended in the top and bottom ends and a bit more dynamic with more slam.

With the Auteur I did prefer the Echo over the MJ2, but because the Echo was a bit specialized in what headphones can pair well with it (high impedance dynamics) I ended up keeping the MJ2 as it sounds great with everything, especially harder to drive planars like the Arya.

I've since moved up to higher end tube amps, but the Mjolnir 2 has stuck around. I don't own any SS amps currently because it's so versatile. If you only plan to stick with dynamics though, the Echo is probably the way to go.

Whats the opinion on Feliks euforia?

I love the Euforia and it's a shop favorite of our employees - as three of us own one, with a couple Echo's among our other staff. The Feliks amps are great, biggest thing to be aware of is because of the OTL nature they transform a lot with tubes. I have Chatham 6as7g tubes in mine for a brighter/quicker sound that retains holography.

I also love mine. It’s a great sounding amp with impeccable build quality. I haven’t started “tube rolling” as yet, but I understand that this can open a lot more options for sound characteristics! :)

Zampotechs latest, the SW51 seems to be that latest rage and a steal for the price. Will it fit the Verite? Dunno:

Other than that the classics over here:

This little amp (SW51+) punches way above its price range and is a great pairing with the Verite. I have two amps worth more than $2000 and it keeps up with them except for that extra bit of sound stage depth, width, and resolution.

I would highly recommend Feliks Echo. Dead quiet, elegant and solid build, and quality components. A really solid entry level OTL amp. The head-fi thread on this amp is pretty small and populated by tube noobs like myself and there aren't a huge amount of reviews available, though they are all very positive.

I've read on SABF that Feliks amps push the mids more upfront. I haven't heard their other amps, but I can confirm this does happen with the stock tubes on the Echo. This is a blessing when paired with VO, since it makes up for the VO's slight mids recess. I'm in the process of getting 6922 and 7308 tubes to roll instead of the stock russian 6N1P driver tubes.

You can either buy from upscaleaudio (the US distributor) or from Feliks directly, but possibly be subject to USD to EUR conversion and import/customs fees. These basically never get sold second-hand on head-fi or ebay. Take that for what it's worth.

When you are ready to tube roll. Check out these guides, among many.

Hope it helps!

This is my experience in general with the Echo as well. Diminishing returns hit quite hard at the top end. Not saying it isn't worth it to go higher up, but there are definitely gems to be had at lower prices that get you 90% of the way there.

I'll also throw in a vote for the Euforia. It's a wonderful amp that compares favorably to other higher-end tube amps (currently auditioning it side by side with a Mogwai SE and T4).

Only go Euforia if you plan on changing out the stock tubes. Stock the Euforia is too bloomy and will only emphasize some of the Verite's sins of commission.

I was going in the direction of the Euforia until I rememberd how crazy down the tube rabbit hole some on their tube rolling forum had gone! :money_mouth:

It is enough to roll tubes into the Pendant, but at least I had quite a few 12AU7, 12AT7 tubes!
