You mean the Pendant base will be camphor burl as well? If so, did you have to contact Zach with that request? The ordering page for the Pendant on their website has a "custom wood option" but gives no details as to what it is.

Yep. For anything outside of what's on the website, you're gonna have to contact Zack for a special request. I believe he did mention he's doing a small batch of camphor burl pendants. I would definitely contact him for custom wood. Contrary to what some might believe, he's very receptive and helpful.

I can't wait to see that! I was planning on ordering a Pendant in stock black, but I may have to rethink.

Back to Verite topic, actually today I managed to re-listen Verite with Auris HA2-SE.

This tube amp still sound as good as I remember, expansive soundstage, has a little extra pronounce at midrange section really bring vocal has more lifelike feel, with silky smooth treble but still sparkle in good way not to make it as dark amp. Bass is there, punch tightly with enough impact for bass drum to make the whole sound have toe tapping effect.

Finally I could kill my curiosity by playing the impedance selector (before I haven't realised this toggle exist). My impression above based on "50 ohm". When I switched to "300 Ohm", treble seems slightly being darker, with fuller midrange, and slight fuller bass. However, overall transient also a little bit slower, and I think I like the tonal balance of "50 Ohm". My friend who also tried with me prefer the "300 Ohm" though, as midrange presentation slightly mellower.

Anyway, great combo in my book, and these woody set up look great together too! (Sorry, forgot to took any photos both of them together )

@zach915m Hey Zach, where does Camphor burl sit on the wood hardness/density scale compared to Cocobolo?

Camphor is quite a lightweight wood, the burl adds some hardness, but not a ton, camphor burl is around the same density of cherry or maple.

I'm probably colorblind.
Where's the green?

that HD820 graph, jesus christ, LOL.

HD820 is one of the rare ones I like regardless of the poor FR graph.

Thanks for the reply. Does that make Camphor burl the softest wood type you use for Verite? On your website, the graph lists Cocobolo to be denser than cherry.

I prefer my Verite to have less ledge to the notes.

Or am I just nitpicking here when there's hardly any sonic difference? :L3000:

The silk (albizia) is definitely the softest wood. It has a little more decay than the camphor burl, but camphor burl is close enough that you'll want to choose more based on aesthetic.

I think this may have been addressed earlier, but I've forgotten....is more decay a good thing? What's the sonic advantage of harder vs softer wood?
