ZMF Ori (Omni) - Upcoming Semi Open Flagship

That is seriously gorgeous. Wow. Might be one of the best looking headphones I've seen.

Much of the thanks/props need to go to Luke (@taiden) of Vibro Labs, as I just tell him what I want and he comes up with the design for me to work with.  Luke and I started working together with the Vibro cups (used on ZMF x Vibro and Blackwood) and at this point there's nobody else who I'd rather work with.  He's the man!

Excellent work, Luke! Still, it looks like you want nice things, so some of the props have to go to you!

The Pewter coins are made by my wife's grandparents company, Woodbury Pewter BTW.  Sorry if I'm rehashing info I've already stated.

Since we're on the subject of coins, would it be too late to change my Coin type from Etched to In-Set? It's for Order #3.

Nope not to late.  In fact anything can still be changed up until the date your headphone is started.  The first 8 orders will be started this weekend/early next week.  So if anybody needs anything changed for those, let me know and I'll make the changes on the order sheet.

Man I miss these hp's I only had em for a week and I feel l
Zach can we have some pics of the Blackwood Omni?

... The HD 800 has started growing on me after several listening sessions, and it (surprisingly) is much cheaper here in Taiwan than in the US. Totally different sound, but it might be a shootout between the two as to which one to get.

And here I was thinking the Purplehearts would be my "end game" ... silly me

Thats one hp I cant bring myself to buying because it prob wont suite what I listen to. Im sure if it was modded I may love it.

@Zach: Only the Walnut is coming to Europe/Asia, right? Would love to hear the Blackwood version.

@grizzlybeastI'd most likely be doing this to the HD 800 if I buy it.

@gixxerwimp - I have a walnut set done that will be sent after the Chicago head-fi meet on Aug 8th.  If before that time I get another Blackwood set completed, I'll send that one on the Asia/Euro tour instead.  Let me see what I can do!

I wasn't necessarily thinking of "instead", but rather "as well", as I thought both the Omni in both Walnut and Blackwood were going on the US tour. But I think I was confused by the Blackwoods mentioned being Grizzly's personal set of actual ZMF Blackwoods (as opposed to Omnis w/ Blackwood cups).

Probably better to have Walnuts going around so that impressions will be of the same phones. I'm sure you can describe the differences to us in words so we can extrapolate the sound signatures of the different cups.

Ah geez. After seeing those blackwood pics, I am unsure if I want to stick with the walnut cups. Doesn't help I only have a few days left to decide.

A tiny part of me is telling me to get both but I don't think it would be wise to listen to it. =p

Thanks all for the kind words on the Omni design. Zach told me he wanted a semi-open t50rp cup and this is what he got. Glad he saw it my way!

@Zocoyotzin Omni is a walnut can in my mind, but the blackwood is very special too. Just my visual preferences. Keep it USA!

Actually, I'll add to the commotion and say that particular pair of blackwood Omnis have a ridiculously beautiful grain. In addition Zach has been using a little bit less glossy finish recently which lets the natural qualities of the wood come through stronger. :)
