Hmm, as preorderer, I wonder how willing zach is for someone to upgrade to the backwoods (or make any part changes)

As long as I haven't started your order yet we can make any desired changes.  If going to the Blackwood Omni it would just be the $100 cost difference to change.

Omni parts arrived friday and I am starting the first batch of 8 Omni's in the next 10 days or so, so if changes are desired do let me know soon!

Are they processed in the order of which they were ordered or based on the way you listed them on your google doc?

Yep - all the Omni orders are made in the order they came in.   There may be some very minor discrepancies as I make them in batches, but generally they will ship from oldest order >>>>newest order.

Man I miss these hp's I only had em for a week and I feel lost without them here.

I just saw the graphs on the ZMF site. For the most part what I heard was visible except for a couple of things. The bass qty actually shows a hair more for the blackwood. I think the Omni sounded more because its more balanced and doesnt have the dipped contour in the upper bass of the Blackwood. Also often times more space around the instruments, less distortion, and better separation equals better definition, which means its easier to hear the bass in its own layer. Then there is measured to be a slightly brighter sound and more upper mids on the Omni like I heard but the Blackwood has a higher peek where most sibilants are centered.

Whatever...I miss those headphones but cant wait to hear the Blackwood Omni(glad he chose that wood). Its said to have slightly better dynamics.

Zach can we have some pics of the Blackwood Omni?

Well, I (and a bunch of colleagues and sales guys at my local HP store) can't wait to get our hands on them. I remembered I have some cash stashed away with my sister in Canada, so can order right away if I decide they're enough of an upgrade from my Blackwood Purplehearts. The HD 800 has started growing on me after several listening sessions, and it (surprisingly) is much cheaper here in Taiwan than in the US. Totally different sound, but it might be a shootout between the two as to which one to get.

And here I was thinking the Purplehearts would be my "end game" ... silly me

Considering the blackwood is denser and heavier than the other two woods, is the blackwood omni a good bit heavier?

contactZMF@gmail.com is the fastest way to get a hold of me.  You can also gchat me @ that address.

Of note, the two sets pictured above are the first two sets made with production and not prototype parts.  The set with the "inset" coin logo that is darker was sent out for the US tour today.  The other set will be at the Chicago head-fi meet.  I am finishing up the MassDrop orders this week, and then production of the Omni's starts next week.

Here's some weights of what I have here, weights ofcourse may vary:

Cherry Omni = 465g
Walnut Omni = 480g
Blackwood Omni = 580g

So yeah, Blackwood = heavier.  This wood is DENSE!
